Joseph Leo Freeman from South Dennis, age 63, was born in Mattapan to the late Ethel and John Freeman. He passed away peacefully on October 19th at Mass General Hospital after a long battle with Familial Amyloidosis surrounded by his loving wife, Mary, his son Michael and his wife Claudia, son Neil, and daughter Kelli. Loving brother to Peter and his wife Laura, Robert and his wife Margaret, Ann DesRoche and her husband Steve, Kit McIntyre and her husband PJ and the late Jack Freeman and his wife Maureen. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In 2019, Joe retired from the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Plant after 30 years as a Nuclear Technician. He was a proud veteran of the Marine Corps and was stationed in California and Japan. Joe had a passion for running which led him to complete seven marathons.
He enjoyed golfing, boating, skiing and watching sports. Some of his favorite memories were coaching his children through Dennis Youth Baseball. Most importantly, his finest pleasure was spending time with his family and friends.
Visiting hours are at the Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Route 134, South Dennis on Sunday, October 25th from 4 to 8 pm. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Cape, 468 Stony Brook Road, Brewster at 11:00 am on Monday, October 26th. Burial to follow at the National Cemetery in Bourne at 2:15 pm.
