

John “Jack” Denaro, 83, died after a lengthy illness on December 12, 2011. Born raised and educated in Concord, MA., he completed classroom and practical training to become an electrician. He fulfilled two tours of duty in the U.S. Marines during the the early 50’s. Much of his career was spent at the Mitre Corporation in Bedford, MA which is where he met his current wife Eleanor (Ellie) in 1976. He spent time living in Stow, MA where he began to raise his family. After marrying Ellie, they resided in S. Lawrence before relocating to the Cape.
Throughout his life, Cape Cod played an important role. Brewster, where he permanently relocated following his retirement in 1989, was always a favorite vacation destination.
“Jack” was an avid collector, with a passion for antiques in general and clocks in particular. He was fond of trains and fascinated by the history of the local area. He was a member of the NAWCC, the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors. He was also a member of the Brewster Men’s Club and the Marine Corps League, C&I Det 955. He thoroughly enjoyed the time he spent as a volunteer involved in the restoration of the Crosby Mansion in Brewster. He will be fondly remembered as a warm person, good friend, someone who loved people and enjoyed great conversation.
“Jack” was predeceased by his parents John and Edna Denaro as well as his second wife Jean Hunt. He is survived by his daughters, Laurie Denaro of Shaftsbury VT., Michelle & Walter Rowbotham of Marlborough MA., Marie & Kevin McCann of E. Hampstead NH and Melissa Champagne of Manchester NH. He also leaves his son Michael Pomerleau of Manchester NH, grandchildren, Jennifer, Jayson, Jessica, Jaydee, Jonathan and Peter as well as eight great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews, and his former wife Phyllis Bonfiglio.
Visitation will be on Sunday December 18, 2011 from 4-8pm at the Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Rt. 134 S. Dennis, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Cape Church 468 Stony Brook Rd. Brewster, MA on Monday December 19, 2011 at 11am. Internment will be in Orleans Cemetery, Orleans, MA.
