John D. (Jack) Buckley of Hyannis, formerly of Brockton and South Dennis, MA, passed away on Friday (June 3, 2011). He was born in 1921 in North Cambridge, son of Daniel and Ellen (O'Sullivan) Buckley. Jack graduated from St. John's High School in North Cambridge, and attended Boston College before leaving to serve his country as a naval officer in the Pacific during WWII. Upon his return from the war, Jack graduated from Providence College. Shortly after that, he married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Patricia Blunt (his "Patty"). Jack and Pat would be together for over 61 wonderful years. A true gentleman, with a wonderful sense of humor, Jack was a real 'class act'. He was an active member in the choirs of Our Lady of Lourdes and Ireland's Own in Brockton. He also had many other interests from sports to literature, and volunteering as a CCD teacher at Our Lady of Lourdes. He worked with Hanover Insurance Company and Commercial Union Insurance. However, the first and foremost center of his life was his family. In addition to his beloved wife, Jack leaves to cherish his memory: Julie Donehue and her husband Jack of Scituate, Ellen Wolcott and her husband Tim of South Dennis, Jean Gilbertson and her husband Bob of North Grafton, Mary Twohig and her husband Paul of Wellesley, and John Buckley and his wife Deirdre of Wilmington, Delaware. Jack was predeceased by his youngest daughter, Katy. He was the very proud grandfather of Shannon, Kerry, Christine, Cathleen, Kailyn, Sean and Meghan. He is also survived by his brother Joseph of Arlington and his sister Mary (Crane) of Cambridge as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Sister Sheila Buckley of Springfield, Kentucky and Kathleen (Dynan) of Brighton.
