James R. Verrochi, 52, passed away January 23, 2013. He grew up in East Dennis, attended Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School, played football and was a 3 year varsity letterman. He was honorably mentioned for the 1977 “All Cape Football Team.”
Jimmy earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications from Worcester State College in 1984. He was a mason contractor for over 20 years. In 2000, he became a proud member of the Barnstable Sheriff’s Department as an Emergency Dispatch Telecommunicator. In 2007, he was named the Cape and Island’s Emergency Medical Services Dispatcher of the Year.
Jimmy was best known for his big smile and wonderful laugh. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping with his close friends on Sandy Neck Beach. He was a member of The Sons of Erin and The West Barnstable Deer Club.
Jimmy was the devoted son of Helen M. (Regan) Verrochi and the late William G. Verrochi of East Dennis. He leaves his siblings; Robert J. Verrochi of Hull, Paula M. Griffiths and husband Brian of North Andover, Janice M. Lynch and husband Hugh of South Dennis, Helene M. McClellan and husband Thomas of West Barnstable and Joseph M. Verrochi of Peachtree City, GA and Charleston, SC.
He was the loving uncle of 10 nieces and nephews and the proud godfather of Frederick Parker Little III.
Visiting Hours will be held on Thursday, January, 31, 3-8 pm at the Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, 729 Route 134, South Dennis, MA. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February, 1, 2013 at Our Lady of the Cape Church, 468 Stoney Brook Road, Brewster, MA at 11 am. Interment will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery in South Dennis.
