James Michael Athy

Loving father of the late James Michael Athy, Jr. and Elizabeth Jean Durkin. Father-in-law to Denise Athy and Stepfather to Nevenka Bierny. Also, companion to Marie Boucher. Grandfather to Thomas Durkin, Allison McGuirk, Rachel Athy and Julia Athy. Great grandfather to Liam Durkin, Trey Durkin, Carter James McGuirk and Charlie McGuirk. He is also survived by his sisters Ann Chamberlain and Barbara Athy, as well as several nieces and nephews.

James served during the Korean war and graduated from Boston College. Jim was loving and enjoyed life, family and friends. In lieu of flowers please donate to a charity of your choice.

Visitation will be held Friday, March 31st from 8:30-10:30 AM at Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home, South Dennis, with a Funeral Mass directly following at 11:00 AM at St. Pius X Church, South Yarmouth. Interment will be held at 1:30 PM in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
