Edward W. O'Malley

O’Malley, Edward, W. 83, of Dennis, Son of Mary Scannell Malley and John Edward Malley. Died June 20th at Eagle Pond Nursing Home. He is survived by his wife Virginia of 58 yrs and daughters Kathleen A. Damon and her husband Richard of Newbury, Vt, Marjorie E. O’Malley of Roslindale Ma, Nancy O’Connor of Yarmouthport, Ma. Three grandchildren, Kathleen M. O’Connor, Thomas O. Egan and Connor Huck. He leaves brothers John O’Malley of Mission Viejo, Ca., the Honorable William O’Malley of Walnut Creek, Ca., sister Grace Fitzgerald and husband Barry of Madison Ct. and the late Virginia Baratti of Rio Del Ca. Edward attended St Williams School in Dorchester and Newman Prep in Boston and graduated from Brown University after his service in WW II. Edward served in the Navy Submarine Service in the South Pacific. After serving in the Navy for six years he continued his education and after graduating from Brown University he worked for Mass Mutual Life Insurance Co for 30 years as an Executive in the Pittsburgh Pa. office before retiring to Cape Cod. He was an avid golfer and a member of Dennis Pines and Highland golf courses. He attended the Academy of Life Long Learning from its beginning and taught Irish History and American History as well as taking many enrichment courses especially Opera and served on the board of Directors for many years. He was a member of the VFW Post No 10274 where he was twice commander. Visiting hours will be held at the Doane Beal & Ames Funeral Home 729 Rt 134 S. Dennis on Wednesday June 23rd from 4-7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday June 24 at Our Lady of the Cape Church Brewster at 11am. Burial will be Friday June 25th at the Mass National Cemetery in Bourne.
