Dorothy "Dottie" Karber Schmidt

Dorothy "Dottie" Karber Schmidt, 91, of Brewster, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2016. Dorothy was born on March 28, 1925 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania to the late John and Anna Tomko. Dorothy was raised in McKeesport and resided in Miami, Florida, until which time she came to Cape Cod in 1985.

Dorothy is survived by her three children, Christine Marzlin, Russell Karber (Janet) and Robert Karber (Emily). She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren who wholeheartedly adored her.

Dottie lived life to the fullest and touched the lives of everyone she met. Her smile lit up the room wherever she was and her laugh was contagious. Dottie loved all the work she did throughout the years, however her two all time favorites were "The Schmidt House" in Florida and "Bay View Cottages" in Brewster. She loved ceramics, coloring and playing games... and boy did she cheat.

Dorothy is predeceased by Harry J. Karber, Jr., Reginald Schmidt, her sister Gertrude Vojtko, her son-in-law, Thomas Marzlin and her grandchildren Russell Marzlin and Kimberly Marzlin Caputo.

A Memorial Mass will take place 11am Friday, August 5, 2016 at Our Lady of the Cape 468 Stony Brook Rd., Brewster, MA 02631. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to Make-a-Wish Foundation, www.wish.org/ or Latham Centers on Cape Cod, www.lathamcenters.org/.
