Doris A. Duffy of South Dennis and Nokomis, FL, formerly of Framingham, passed away on January 27, 2017. Doris was the daughter of the late Catherine (Mason) and George Byrnes and step daughter of Joseph St. John. Beloved wife of the late Donald J. Duffy, Sr. with whom they shared 36 years and many great times together.
Doris was a proud graduate of St. Patricks High School in Brockton, class of 1954 and later attended Bay State Academy in Boston. Prior to marriage, she worked for Eastern Airlines. In 1962, Doris and Donald settled in Framingham and raised their three children; Doris’ faithful duty was keeping up with the kids busy schedules including her involvement with Cub Scouts and Pop Warner football , preparing delicious meals for the entire family and always putting everyone else before herself. After 33 years of living in Framingham, Doris and Donald moved permanently to their summer home in South Dennis, enjoying many days at Howes St. Beach with their friends. She had regular get togethers with her friends from St. Patricks and looked forward every year to heading south for the winter and enjoying her time with the friends she made over the years at Lyons Cove and was notably a huge Patriots fan. She was predeceased by her special companion Ed Marcinkiewicz. She was blessed over the years with her long time friendship of Dr. Anthony Benison and Eleanor Benison. Doris was a longstanding member of St. Pius X Church in Yarmouth and a former member of St. George’s church in Saxonville.
Doris will be truly missed by her children, Donald J. Duffy, Jr., Dennis J. Duffy, and Donna M. Wheildon and her husband Steve. She is also survived by her dear brother Joseph E. St. John as well as her cherished grandchildren, Dennis S. Duffy and Catherine Wheildon and nephew Jason St. John and niece Catherine St. John and many cousins and their families.
A Memorial Mass in Doris’ honor will be held on Friday, Feb. 10, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 5 Barbara St., Yarmouth, followed by burial at Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
