She was born to Loretta and Donald Callaway, June 12, 1950, in Orange, New Jersey. Donna graduated from the NJ School for the Deaf in 1968. Donna was crowned Miss Deaf New Jersey in 1971 and presided until 1973. She married Karl Kovach in 1972, and they lived together first in Bloomfield, NJ and then Towaco, NJ, before retiring to Brewster in 2010.
Donna was a teacher’s aid at Lake Drive School (Mountain Lakes, NJ) and cared deeply about making a difference in the lives of her students. She and her husband Karl were active members of the Cape Cod Model A Club & the AACA and enjoyed traveling to antique car shows around the country to compete with their 1931 Model A Ford.
Donna loved the beach and had fun going to craft shows. She was an active crafter herself making beautiful gifts for family and friends. Donna had a loving and generous spirit always seeing the good in others. She willingly gave of herself and was beloved by all who knew her.
Donna is survived by her husband, Karl, and two children, Dave and Karla, both of New York City. She is also survived by her mother, Loretta Callaway and sister, Laura Donnelly.
A viewing will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. Sunday July 10 at Doane, Beal & Ames Funeral Home in South Dennis. There will be a short service on Monday July 11 at 11 a.m. followed by a burial at the Holy Trinity Cemetery.
