Born in Boston, MA on December 28, 1946 and raised in Wellesley, MA, she earned an English degree from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a Masters in Social Work from Boston University. She worked at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and as a Dean of Students at Brandeis University prior to raising her children. She was married to her husband Lance Neumann for forty-seven years, and they enjoyed time with their children and grandchildren, traveling the world, drinking wine, and cheering on the New England Patriots. She is survived by Lance, his sister Cynthia, her two children Elizabeth and Daniel, their spouses Tom Filippone and Anne Neumann, and her three grandchildren, Hannah, Eve, and Samuel as well as her sister Carolyn Conley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gertrude Rodiman Card and Wallace Asa Card.
She met the love of her life, her husband Lance, at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the 1970s, and they raised their family in Lexington, MA after their marriage in 1976. A lover of books and theater, she instilled a love of reading, music and the arts in her children, as well as a strong belief that everyone should be treated with dignity, respect, and a little bit of humor.
The family is planning a private service this summer per her wishes. In lieu of flowers, the family would ask you to consider a donation to the Home for Little Wanderers or to spend time reading with a loved one, as it was one of her favorite things to do.
