Clare Regina (Driscoll) Monac

Clare was born, January 24,1950 in Quincy, MA and grew up in Braintree. She graduated from Braintree High, in 1968. Shortly after graduation she met the love of her life, Teddy, while shopping at a Thom McCann Shoe store, in Quincy Square, with her best girlfriend, Sandy. Teddy & Clare were inseparable and were married in1970. The first eight years of their marriage were full of adventure! They quickly welcomed two children and Ted's work took them to various cities & towns between Massachusetts, New Hampshire & Connecticut, resulting in a number of moves. Clare embraced each adventure and always did everything with flair & fun, as a young wife & mom.

In 1979, after having their third child, the Monacs returned to Braintree, purchasing a house just one street over from Clare's childhood home. They raised their family there where Clare was a consummate volunteer, most notably in the Braintree public library; as a Girl Scout Troop leader; at the Blue Hills Trailside Museum as a volunteer guide and with her local parish, among others.

In the 1980s, Clare enrolled in Quincy Junior College, where she earned her associate's degree in biology, feeding her love of science. She was an avid naturalist & gardener, who paid close attention to the changing seasons; her favorite harbingers being the annual return of her neighborhood osprey, searching for the first forsythia & pussy willows, and taking the top down on her vanity-plated, convertible for the summer!

Aside from her family, Clare's next biggest love was the beach and in 2001, she fulfilled a longtime desire, building her dream home on Cape Cod, with sunset views, of the Bass River. Over the last 20 years of her life, Clare was a kind & vibrant woman who made countless friendships wherever she went. Colorful & super creative, she was a born party planner, who enjoyed bringing people together. She volunteered for years as a Flower Angel (was even one of their calendar girls) and in her free time, she pursued her hobbies: gardening, reading, baking, cooking, crafting, playing games, & celebrating the holidays, but most importantly, was sharing those talents as a loving wife, mother & grandmother.

She is survived by her husband Edward (Ted) Monac, their children: Benjamin Monac & his wife Jennifer of Dennis, Regina Wood of South Yarmouth, Alexandra Thompson & her husband Ian of South Yarmouth, and Timothy Driscoll of Canton; as well as her six, fiercely loved grandchildren: Jack & Tyler Wood, Coleman & Elizabeth Monac and Laurel & Finn Thompson; her sister Janet Driscoll of Berkley and her brother Ralph Driscoll, Jr & his wife MaryAnn of Florida, as well as many loving in-laws, nieces, nephews & her beloved two cats. She was predeceased by her parents, Ralph G. Driscoll & Virginia “Bunny” Driscoll and her cousin and dear friend, Elaine Hamblet.

Clare was deeply proud of the lights of her life: her family and their accomplishments, especially how they had all inherited her boundless creativity & deep love of nature.
