Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Henry J. and Theresa M. (Beaulieu) Szynal, he had resided in Dartmouth for the majority of his life, a town he loved greatly.
He was a graduate of New Bedford High School, class of 1977 and attended Bristol Community College. While in high school, he played hockey and football. At a very young age, Steven learned the trade of carpentry and worked hard to earn the title of Master Carpenter. He also obtained his Contractor license.
Steven was the Senior Project Manager for Claremont Companies. He was also the owner of Steven H. Szynal Construction.
Steven found the love of his life Lori, and they truly made a love story; a true gift from God. After coming into Lori’s life, Steven accepted God as his personal savior and they shared their salvation together.
His greatest joys were his girls, his two golden retrievers, Bella and Meadow, who miss him dearly. Steven enjoyed playing golf, working in his yard and watching the Patriots and Bruins. He taught himself how to water ski and loved being out on the water sailing. An excellent chef and grill master, Steven enjoyed a good mai tai or glass of wine and always lived life to its fullest.
Surviving in addition to his wife Lori are his children, Holly Costa and son-in-law, Jonathan Cummings, Lucas Costa and fiancée Ali Girard, Sarina Rosinha and husband Eric and Hannah Hendricks and husband Harrison; three grandchildren, Gillian and Isabel Rosinha and Willow Hendricks; his sisters, Karen Arruda and husband James and Diane Reilly and husband Joseph; his in-laws, Raymond Demoranville, Richard Pittsley Jr. and wife Cindy, Brenda Simmons and husband Andrew, his godson, Richard Reilly; his best friend since childhood, Dana Souza; his boss and dear friend, Mike Phillips and many beloved family members and special friends.
