Mary T. Souza

Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late James and Anne M. (Woolley) O’Brien she was a lifelong area resident and a communicant of St. Mary’s Church, Dartmouth.

Mrs. Souza was an elementary school teacher in New Bedford, MA. In her spare time, she enjoyed visits to the beach and walks along the New England coastline. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, family, grandchildren, and friends. She belonged to a local knitting group, Mt. Carmel HS Alumni group, and always enjoyed celebrating her Irish heritage on St. Patrick’s Day.

She is survived by her sons, Daniel Souza of Dartmouth and Steven Souza and his wife Colleen of Hopkinton; grandchildren, Lauren, Alexander, Alyssa, Maura, and Keira. She was the mother of the late Kathleen A. Knight (husband Christopher Knight of Scituate) and sister of James O’Brien, Stephen O’Brien, and Joseph O’Brien.

Her visitation will be Saturday, December 21, 2024 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Road, Dartmouth. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church, 795 Dartmouth Street, Dartmouth. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Bedford. For online tribute/directions
