Katie and I were friends and classmates at SMU, and we were in a production of "Hair" together. She was an amazing person.  We  enjoyed going to clubs together to hear bands at Lupo's Heartbreak Hotel.  I also enjoyed  going to parties with her friends, family and Joe's motorcycle crowd. We used to go to Horseneck beach together after class in the late afternoon, bringing one of her dogs to run. I still have a few great photos of her and the Dobermans on the beach. I regret that we let so much time lapse and didn't stay in touch later in life, and that it was too late when I tried to find you. I will miss you, my friend.  RIP.

 I am greatly saddened by the death of this magnificent human being. I just recently found out about this tragic event. I was in a band (Jean Harlow, The Band) with her in the 80s and I was fortunate enough to work with her on several theatrical projects in her theater known as the ANDT- The American National Defense Theater. Her talent and skill were generous and deep. I have decided to celebrate her life as well as mourn her death. My condolences to all who knew her . She will never be forgotten.

I was shocked and deeply saddened to hear of dear Katie's passing. We were friends for over 25 years and every year I looked forward to reconnecting with her during my Rhode Island winter holiday visit. She was a dear friend and a load of fun. My family and I send our deepest sympathy. May her dear sweet soul rest in peace. She will not be forgotten!!!!

My sympathies go out to your family.  Katia was a vibrant, rockin' soul!  I loved being with her through our years at Endicott.  She made me smile and fed me with her firey spirit.  She will be missed.

We have known and admired Katie since her days at the Trinity Rep Conservatory. She was especially great as "Cavale" in Alias Stage's production of "Cowboy Mouth". As many have mentioned, she radiated goodness and warmth. We have always been inspired by her creativity and her vibrant rock n' roll spirit.

My sympathy to Katie's family.   I knew her for many years as a particularly gentle person.   A group of us continued to maintain contact a few times a year.

Katie was a member of the Great Place to Learn family for many years. She had an amazing impact on her students and their families as well as her co-workers. Katie had a gift for seeing into the heart and soul of a person and was able to use that knowledge to create a safe environment in which her student would not only learn but soar. She was always willing to lend a hand, an ear, or part of her heart to those around her. Her passing is a loss to all. Our thoughts and prayers surround her family at this time.

To the Cabral Family:  Although I had not seen Kathy for many, many years, she was one of my best friends during our Bishop Stang years in the Class of 1972.  We saw each other over the years, but not so much in the last 15 or so.  She was one of my field hockey teammates, and we shared many classes during our 4 years.  I remember going to her house to watch All My Children when we were seniors and were allowed (??) to leave the campus if we had a free period.  She always had a great smile, a wonderful laugh, and a beautiful heart.  From reading all of these tributes and listening to the priest at the Mass today, it appears that she had not changed one bit over the years.  I am so sorry for your loss and am so sorry that I had not seen her in so long.  What a beautiful tribute she had today with a church full of her friends and family whose lives she had touched.  May she rest in peace.

I am deeply saddened by this news. My heart goes out to friends and family. Katie was one of the genuinely sweetest people I ever had the pleasure of knowing. I will miss her kind words and humor and our discussions on literature, film, and music. She was a special person with a gentle, caring soul that will live on in the memories of others.

Katie gave me my first venue for reading my works of poetry and fiction in her Providence performance and shows of "All Swelled Up in the Bones" 

As I knew her over the years, she was always putting 100 percent of herself into whatever project came her way.

I was very glad when she told me she'd been hired at URI, the last time I saw her. I know she's inspired young women to take their own dreams to new levels.

Dearest Cousins,  I cannot believe our re-aquantance was so short. I remember us playing in the woods behind the house as kids, as well as at Aunite's.  Then we moved away and lost connection. The past several years we became re-aquanted again.  Talked of going to Azores to meet more cousins. I know she has gone home and is resting in loving hands of our Father.  As well as being with our departed family. Someday we will all be together again.   My prayers, thoughts, and love are with you all during this time.

I know I speak for all the members of  The Rhode Island Short Story Club because Katia was well liked, loved and appreciated. She will be remembered and missed for her gentle heart, talent in writing, and many warm friendships.

Katie was my friend. All who knew her knew her strength, her peace, her compassion for all people and animals. Katie had a smile for everyone, her warmth of life was truly a gift. I am so lucky to have known her and loved her. She will be truly, and sadly missed....I feel I've been robbed of one of the most precious gifts I'd ever been given by having her in my life. My thoughts and prayers to all her friends and family.

Katie was one of the kindest, caring, compassionate and loving woman I knew. She was a wonderful friend, volunteer, singer, teacher and the Vice President of my organization PETSOFNEWENGLAND.ORG My heart goes out to all her family and friends. I loved Katie, she will truly be missed.

I knew Kate both at UMass and at the Trinity Conservatory, as well as after. She was an original, an intelligent,talented, beautiful, creative and compassionate woman. I still remember her Halloween parties at the house in North Dartmouth, with her Doberman wearing reindeer antlers. Lots of good times. She helped me a great deal through some rough patches, always was willing to listen and my heart goes out to her family and friends. She will be missed.

My heartfelt sympathy goes out to the family. Words can't desribe the loss I feel for my friend. She brought happiness and joy to many. She was a super talented person and shared her knowledge with all. She was my inspiration and support through our years of freindship. She will be sadly missed by all who were touched by her enthusiam and caring.

To her family and friends I am so very sorry for your loss. I first met Katie when she booked my band for the Colliseum and I remember being stunned by the creativity and beauty of the place. I got to know Katie over the years through the music community, and she was a lovely, warm and kind person. I'm thankful I just saw her the night before Thanksgiving, and she was so happy to be seeing old friends and listening to good music. She will be missed.

My prayers to the Cabrals in their time of sorrow. I spent many a time with Katie in great one-on-one talks and having fun with her with her many friends. I loved her very much and this has been really hard for me. She will be very missed and always remembered.

I was so sorry to hear this news....Katie worked with me at many events and we became good friends through the years. I think the picture here is so fitting. This is the way I will always remember her...wide eyed, with a smile and in good spirits - she really was a special person always warm, generous and kind.

Dear Cabral Family...many years have passed from when I remember Kathy as a college student.....giving rides to her brother and I....which seems like a life time ago and also at the same time....just like yesterday.  She was a wonderful older sister to Joe and Davy always offering advice and wisdom.
