Born in Detroit, Michigan, a son of the late James M. and Margaret (Raymo) Cameron, he had resided and worked in Midwest City, Oklahoma for 25 years before moving to the New Bedford area in 2004.
Mr. Cameron was a retired Army and Air Force Veteran attaining the rank of Senior Master Sergeant and also retired from civil service as an engineer at Tinker Air Force Base.
He was an active member of the Elks Club and American Legion and became a fan of the Boston Red Sox.
Survivors include a daughter, Kari Coelho and her husband Paul of Dartmouth, a son, Meredith Cameron and his fiancé Deb Lambright of LaGrange, IN; three sisters, Ellen Cameron, Janet Cameron and Mary Catherine Alford and her husband Al; a brother, William Cameron and his wife Rose; a sister-in-law, Ruth Cameron; three grandchildren, Cameron, Lauryn and Lindsey; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late James Cameron Jr.
His funeral service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2011 at 10:30am in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth.
