Born in Fall River, the son of Jaime Mello of Fall River and Linda (Pacheco) Mello of Plympton. James was a lifelong area resident of Dartmouth and a 2011 graduate of New Bedford Regional Vocational-Technical High School. Where he played football and lacrosse and starting planning his Air Force career.
James was a Senior Airman serving in the United States Air Force doing Air Force Intelligence. He loved weight lifting, anything to do with cars, playing and watching sports especially football, going target shooting and planning his stocks and investments. James loved spending time with family and friends, planning his future and serving his country. James was planning on attending BSU in the fall for Finance and Economies.
In addition to his loving parents, he is survived by his maternal grandparents, Carol and Leonildo Pacheco of Swansea; paternal grandparents, Jaime and Zelia DeMelo of Fall River; a sister, Kimberly Mello of Fall River; many aunts, uncles, cousins and lots of great friends.
His funeral will be Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at 9 am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME in DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., followed by a funeral mass at 10 am in St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth. Interment will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, in Bourne. Airman Mello will be given a 21 shot salute with Taps and full Military honors. Visitation will be Monday June 19, 2017 between the hours of 4-8 pm.
