Gilbert A. Souza

Born in New Bedford, son of the late Jose and Izidra (Lemos) Souza, he had resided in Dartmouth since 1967. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Dartmouth.

Mr. Souza was a graduate of New Bedford High School, Bryant University and Bridgewater State College.

He was a United States Air Force veteran.

Mr. Souza was employed as a housemaster at New Bedford High School, retiring in 1996.

Surviving in addition to his loving wife Mary is a daughter, Kathleen Knight and her husband Christopher of Scituate; two sons, Daniel Souza of Dartmouth and Steven Souza and his wife Colleen of Hopkinton; a brother Raymond Souza of Connecticut, five grandchildren: Lauren and Alexander Knight, Alyssa, Maura and Keira Souza; cousin, Bernice Rose of New Bedford; and other cousins. He was the brother of the late Lionel Souza.

His Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at 10am in St. Mary’s Church, 783 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth followed by burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery. His family will receive guests prior to the mass from 8:30-9:30am in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth.
