Daniel J. Medeiros, 86 of S. Dartmouth, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 25, 2024 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was the beloved husband of Judith (DeJesus), with whom he shared 62 years of marriage. He is pre-deceased by his parents Joseph and Elsie (Corey) Medeiros, his brother Thomas J. Medeiros and his sister Noreen T. Medeiros.
Dan was a Dartmouth guy “through and through”, growing up in North Dartmouth and moving to South Dartmouth after marrying his high school sweetheart. He graduated from Dartmouth High School and received his degree in Textiles from Southeastern Massachusetts Textile Institute. He worked in the textile industry his entire career, starting at US Textile, Inc. and retiring from Kaplan-Simon Co. Dan was proud to have served in the Coast Guard Reserve for many years. He truly loved his work, but he also loved playing golf, playing cards, painting, and especially traveling the world with his wife.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his loving daughters, Mary Jane Sanders (Robert) of SC and Debra Jendrasek (Christopher Matheus) of NC; four grandchildren, Nikki Succop (Alex), Alli Opdyke (Kevin), Katie Quigley (Jim) and Robbie Sanders (Morgan) and 4 great grandchildren as well as several nephews and a niece.
Dan was so patient, so polite, and so easy to be around. He will be deeply missed by so many. The family would like to thank all his wonderful caregivers and the Community Nurse Home Care of Fairhaven for helping Judy keep him home throughout his illness.
His funeral will be Friday, February 2, 2024 at 9:00am from the Waring-Sullivan Home At Dartmouth, 230 Russells Mills Rd, Dartmouth, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM in St. Mary's Church, 795 Dartmouth St., S.
