

Charles R. Viera, 84, of South Dartmouth, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, February 24, 2025 at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Jesuina (Simmons) Viera, with whom he shared over 49 years of marriage.
Born in Oak Bluffs, Martha’s Vineyard, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Cruz) Viera.
Charles began working for Brittany Dye and Print at the age of 21 for 42 years then later retired from Dartmouth District One after 19 years in 2018. He enjoyed bowling, sports, telling stories and jokes, and hanging out at the coffee shop with his friends. Spending time with his family was very important, especially with his grandchildren and great- grandchildren. The sound of his infectious laugh will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Lori Melo of Dartmouth, and Cheryl Sylvia and her husband Jojo of Dartmouth; six grandchildren, Ryan Melo, Richard Melo and his wife Katie, Mathew Melo, Joey Sylvia, Kerri Andrade and her husband Christopher and Nicholas Sylvia; five great-grandchildren, Jayla Matos, Janessa Matos, Adrianna Mello, Grayson Mello and Waylon Sylvia. He was the father-in-law of the late Tony Melo.
His funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at 9:00am from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME AT DARTMOUTH, followed by his Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Mary’s Church, 795 Dartmouth St., Dartmouth. Burial in St. John’s Cemetery. His visitation will be held on Monday, March 3, 2025 from 4:00 – 7:00pm in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME AT DARTMOUTH, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth, MA 02748.
