Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Albert and Ruth (Gregory) Jones, she has been a resident of Dartmouth for over 55 years. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School, attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing, received her nursing degree from Southeastern Massachusetts University and earned her Master’s Degree from Lesley University.
Mrs. Baptiste was a Registered Nurse with Southcoast Hospitals for over 50 years until her retirement in in 2014. She was most proud of pioneering work with AIDS patients in the early 1980’s. She enjoyed bingo, gambling at Foxwoods, knitting, was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening and, as a seamstress, she enjoyed making costumes and clothing for her grandchildren.
She is survived by four children, Lisa A. Hoye and her husband David of Centennial, CO, Lorrie B. Baptiste of Highlands Ranch, CO, Daniel T. Baptiste and his wife Annalyn of Phoenix, AZ and Heidi J. Baptiste of Dartmouth; four grandchildren, Kirsten and Jack Hoye, Julia and Sarah Torres; a sister Barbara Cook of New Bedford; a brother Thomas Jones of Acushnet and several nieces and nephews.
Her Visitation will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021 from to 4 to 7pm in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME AT DARTMOUTH 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth.
