Born in New Bedford, a son of Edna (Pacheco) Perry of Dartmouth and the late Edward Quail, he spent his youth in New Bedford and was a longtime resident of Dartmouth. He also enjoyed spending time at his second home in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
A graduate of Dartmouth High School, class of 1960 he then joined the Air Force and received a top secret clearance for two tours in Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam, Special Operations. He was stationed at the Coswell Air Force Base in Texas where he was on the Fire and Rescue Squad.
Returning home he started working for U.P.S. and became a business agent for the Teamsters Union Local 59 and then became Secretary Treasurer and was appointed one of the chief negotiators on a national level. After leaving Teamsters he returned to U.P.S. and drove double tractor trailer trucks before retiring in 1994.
Mr. Quail was an avid golfer and enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by two daughters, Tammi Pacheco and her husband Steven of New Bedford and Kimberly Texeira of Fairhaven, Three Grandchildren, Tori Paiva of Fairhaven, Sarah and Shane Pacheco both of New Bedford, Aunt Bertha Rose of New Bedford, several cousins including Jackie Rose of New Bedford and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held Monday, July 19, 2010 at 10 AM in St. Mary’s Church 783 Dartmouth St. Dartmouth. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00PM in the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at DARTMOUTH 230 Russells Mills Rd. Dartmouth. Contributions in his honor may be made to the Disabled American Veterans 19 Willis St. New Bedford, MA 02740. Burial private.
