Arlene Frances Cunha

Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late Frank E. and Elmira (Souza) Mello, she was a lifelong Southcoast resident. She was a graduate of New Bedford High School and was employed at the New England Telephone Company as Service Representative before landing her rewarding career as Frontend Manager at Shaws Market.

Arlene enjoyed playing card games and watching game shows. Her favorite pastime was cooking for her family – no one could replicate her famous mashed potatoes. She also loved all her dogs over the years, especially Frankie, but above all Arlene cherished spending time with her grandson, Jack.

She was the mother of the late Jeffrey Cunha. She is survived by her grandson, Jack Xander Cunha and his mother Deborah Cunha of Dartmouth; sister Phyllis Mitchell, niece Pamela Mitchell and grandnephew Jacob Mitchell of Arizona; sister-in-law Sandra Feno, brother-in-law Bruce Feno, nephew Quinn Feno and grandnephew Chace Feno of New Bedford; and longtime friend Karen Medeiros.
