Robert A. Mello, Jr., age 61, of Somerset, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at Southpointe Rehabilitation Center. Born in Fall River, he was the beloved son of the late Robert A. Sr. and Jane (Barnes) Mello.
Bob dedicated many years to his work as a Tow Truck Driver and Glazer at Somerset Glass. He was also a proud volunteer firefighter in Swansea, where he served his community with passion and commitment. An avid sports enthusiast, Bob enjoyed playing golf and was a loyal fan of soccer and football. He had a special love for horses, often attending and watching horse pulling competitions.
He is survived by his sisters: Christine Lacera and her husband Jose of Cranston, RI, Brenda M. Ricci and her husband Edmund of Fall River and Elizabeth Botelho and her husband Robert of Somerset; his nieces and nephews: Maeghen Malone and her husband Ryan of Swansea, Amanda Sherlock and her husband Brandon of Somerset, Ashley Cordeiro and her wife Jacqueline of Somerset, Zachary Cordeiro and his wife Alicia of Swansea and Savannah Nascimento of Somerset; his great nieces and nephews: Riley Malone, Seamus Malone, Aubrey Sherlock, Jameson Sherlock and Eva Cordeiro. He was father of the late Tylor Robert Mello.
His funeral service will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 11:00 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County Street, Somerset, MA 02726 followed by burial in St. Jean the Baptiste Cemetery, Warren. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, prior to the service.
