Born in Fall River, son of the late Ronald R. and Audette (Bishop) Richard, he was a lifelong resident of Somerset. He was a graduate of Somerset High School class of 1979 and UMass Dartmouth, receiving his Bachelor of Arts in English, and earning an MA Teacher’s Certificate from Bridgewater State University. Mr. Richard’s patient and calm demeanor serviced him well as a Job Coach for People’s Inc. for the past 12 years and as an English Teacher at Bishop Connelly High School for 16 years prior.
“Randy” was an avid sports fan, not only watching all sports at all levels, but often citing statistics on past and current players’ performance. He was especially passionate about his beloved Boston sports teams and frequently visited McCoy Stadium to watch the Pawtucket Red Sox. Randy enjoyed collecting sports memorabilia and was proud of his autographed baseball card collection. He had a penchant for trivia and his family will sorely miss his competitive spirit during holiday game nights. He was a long-time communicant at St. Patrick’s Church, Somerset and was a member of the men’s club.
He is survived by one brother, Mark B. Richard M.D. and his wife Stacy of Hampstead, NH and one sister, Lisa M. Barnes and her husband Russ of Old Orchard Beach, ME. He was the proud uncle to two nieces and three nephews, Elizabeth M. Mayell and her husband Zephan of Manhattan, NY, Nicholas M. Richard of Dorchester, MA, Jacob R. Barnes of Newton, MA, Matthew J. Richard of San Francisco, CA and Hannah E. Barnes of Old Orchard Beach, ME.
