Norma M. (Brownell) Moran, age 89, of Somerset, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Clifton Rehabilitative Nursing Center after a lengthy battle with cancer. She was the wife of William F. “Bill” Moran with whom she would have celebrated 65 years of marriage this June.
Born in Fall River, the daughter of the late Malcolm and Thelma (Walker) Brownell, she lived in Fall River for many years before moving to Somerset over fifty years ago.
A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School class of 1945, she was a longtime communicant of St. Patrick’s Church in Somerset. In addition to being a homemaker and caring for her children, she was an amazing seamstress. An avid golfer, she belonged to the former Suspiro’s and Pocasset Country Clubs.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son: Michael D. Moran and his wife Pamela F. of Fall River, one daughter: Lynne A. Robitaille and her husband Philip M. Robitaille D.D.S. of Somerset, four grandchildren: John T. Moran, Kathleen E. Moran, Julie L. Nahas and her husband Jason, and James P. Robitaille. She was the mother of the late William D. Moran.
Her Funeral will be held Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at 9:00AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County St., Somerset, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 306 South St., Somerset. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Monday from 4:00 to 7:00PM. Contributions in her honor may be made to the Somerset Lions Club, P.O. Box 303, Somerset, MA 02726. Burial in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Somerset.
