Marguerite (O’Gara) Cook, age 103, of Fall River, formerly of Somerset, passed away peacefully Thursday, November 14, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. She spent her last days under the excellent care of the wonderful staff at the Somerset Ridge, enjoying her many visitors. Marguerite was born in 1910 to the late James and Margaret (Coyle) O’Gara, and was the wife of the late John D. Cook. She was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, class of 1927, and a proud graduate of Fitchburg State College, class of 1929, where she earned a degree in education.
A devoted housewife and mother, Marguerite cherished her time with family and friends. She was kind and loving, always offering a warm smile that touched the lives of everyone she met. She stood strong on her Catholic faith, and trusted God in all phases of her life.
She is survived by five children; Barbara Garant of Fall River, Donald Cook and his wife Virginia of Pembroke, Penelope Murtagh of Katy, TX, Robert Cook and his wife Elinor of Swansea, Marilyn Joynt and her husband Gerald of Somerset, and her sister-in-law Jane O’Gara of Tiverton. She also leaves behind 22 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren and countless others who love her. She was mother-in-law of the late Albert Garant and sister of the late Charles and Edward O’Gara.
Her Funeral will be held Monday, November 18, 2013 at 9:00AM from the WARING-SULLIVAN HOME OF MEMORIAL TRIBUTE at ROSE E. SULLIVAN, 866 County St., Somerset, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00AM in St. Patrick’s Church, 306 South St., Somerset. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Sunday from 2:00 to 5:00PM. Flowers welcome. Burial in North Burial Ground, Fall River.
