Joseph V. Arruda, Jr., “Joe,” age 90, of Somerset, passed away at his residence on February 9, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Barbara Ann (Machado) Arruda to whom he has been married for the past 64 years.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Joseph V. & Francelina S. (Cabral) Arruda. Prior to retiring, Joe was a civil engineer for the State of Massachusetts. His favorite pastime was watching dog racing at the former Raynham Taunton Greyhound Track.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his oldest daughter Doreen (Arruda) Dube and her husband Donald of Somerset, his son William Arruda of New York, NY and his youngest daughter Beverly (Arruda) Lussier and her husband Gil of Tiverton, RI. Joe was also the proud grandfather of Kevin Dube and his wife Mary of Boston. Joe was predeceased by all of his siblings, Alfred Arruda, Mary Travis, Alice Arruda, Evelyn Carvalho, Betty Jennings, Antone Arruda and Francelina Souza.
At Joe’s request, his funeral will be private for the immediate family.
