George D. Devine Sr.

George D. Devine, Sr., age 90, of Somerset and formerly of Swansea, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of the late Agnes “Nikki” (Medeiros) Devine.

Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Frederick L. Sr. and Maude M. (Cash) Devine.

A kind and generous person, George loved his family. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed restoring antique cars, trucks and sailing vessels. George owned his own truck leasing company and loved to travel. A proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corp., he was a member of the Marine Corp. League and drove Town Coach for the Howard Bus Co. prior to his retirement.

He is survived by two children, Donna Marie Modlowski and her husband Michael and George Devine, Jr. all of Somerset; one daughter-in-law, Janice Devine; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. George was the father of the late Michael F. Devine and brother of the late Fred L. Devine, Jr, U.S. Air Force Lieutenant Col, Retired and William F. Devine, U.S. Air Force Tech Sargent, Retired.

His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Waring-Sullivan Home at Rose E. Sullivan, 866 County St, Somerset. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation prior from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. Burial with Military Honors in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Fall River.
