Born in Brockton, a son of the late Joseph H. and Dorothy Mae (Thrasher) Almeida.
A Brakeman Engineer for 29 years, he worked for the Massachusetts Bay Commuter Rail, Amtrak, Conrail and Penn Central Transportation Company, retiring in 2015.
An avid Boston Red Sox enthusiast, he enjoyed collecting baseball cards, landscaping, and doing home improvements. A fan of music, he especially enjoyed his idol, Elvis and also cooking and visiting lighthouses.
He is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Ramos and her husband Robert of Berkley; one son, Dennis Almeida, Jr. and his wife Nicole of Somerset; two brothers, Joseph and Robert Almeida; one sister, Sandra Melody; five grandchildren, Victoria Follette, Sydney Follette, Kaitlyn Almeida-Walker, Brandon Almeida and Matthew Almeida; and several nieces and nephews.
Private arrangements are in the care of the Waring-Sullivan Home at Rose E. Sullivan, Somerset. Donations can be made to Nicole Podkowa Caregiver Fund Southcoast Cancer Center.
