Sean P. McPeak, a lifelong resident of Solvay, a community he passionately loved, passed away on Friday morning, February 20th. He was 42. Sean was employed by the Village of Solvay’s Highway Department. A graduate of Solvay High School, Sean attended St. Lawrence University where he majored in psychology and was a member of the football team. During his high school years, Sean excelled in the classroom, but was also a stellar athlete and musician. He was a star on the football field, basketball court and baseball diamond, but was perhaps most happy when playing the drums on-stage with his bandmates. Sean loved life, enjoyed traveling with his family, listening to music rather loudly, and eating the superb meals his mother prepared for him.
Sean is survived by his father and mother, John and Beverly (Jensen), his brother, Patrick (Melissa), his K-9 nephew, Gordon, and countless others who were fortunate enough to make his acquaintance.
Anyone who ever met Sean would attest to his kindness, generosity and fun-loving nature, and while those in heaven will thoroughly enjoy his company, those of us left behind have incurred a tremendous loss. Sean’s family would like to thank the staff of Hutchings, especially Kevin and Amy, for their loving care over the last 20 years.
In lieu of formal services, the family will be having a gathering in Sean’s memoriam at their home, 403 Barclay St., in Solvay on Wednesday, February 25th beginning at 4:00 p.m. All are welcome.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in his name to National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, 917 Avery Ave., Syracuse, NY 13204 or www.namisyracuse.org.
