Luke A. Cardone, 72, of Solvay, passed away Friday at home. He thought so highly of his family and friends and touched so many lives, his presence will be greatly missed by all. He loved golf, and football tailgaiting was a highlight for him with his friends. Luke did everything with enthusiasm and warmth, and projected this in all he did in life. But most of all was the great love for his daughter, son-in-law and grandchildren. To him there was nothing greater than his family.
Born in Utica, he lived in Solvay most of his life. He was a US Air Force Veteran, serving from 1955 to 1962. He was a member of the Stanley B Pennock VFW Post 2893, Geddes Veterans, Solvay Hilltop Club, Italian-American Golf League, American Legion Post of Cicero, a communicant of St Cecilia’s Church and was active in re-establishing its Holy Name Society. He was a former member of the Solvay Tigers AC and Geddes Community Youth Center. He served as a former Solvay Village Trustee and Highway Superintendant.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, the former Elaine Monti, a daughter and son-in-law; Stephanie and Thomas Hayduk, of Cicero, 2 grandchildren; Haleigh and Nicholas, his mother; Jen (DeNigro) Cardone, of Camillus, his brother; Richard Cardone, of Conn., several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews in Syracuse, Utica and Connecticut.
Funeral services will be conducted at 8:45 am Tuesday in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME and 9:30 am in St. Cecilia’s Church, where a funeral Mass will be celebrated. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 pm Monday at the funeral home, 2601 Milton Ave.
