Lawrence J. Gilbert

Lawrence J. Gilbert, 69, of Clearwater, FL, formerly of Lakeland, passed away Wednesday at home in Florida. He was born in Syracuse and was a US Army Veteran, serving active duty from 1962-1964. Lawrence was a supervisor at RE Dietz in Syracuse, where he was employed for 28 years. He was an avid outdoorsman and member of the Orchard Game Club and the Lakeside Volunteer Fire Department. He was predeceased by his wife, Diane, a son, Robbie, parents, Leon and Estella (Barrington) Gilbert and granddaughter, Nicole.

He is survived by his daughter, Pamela L. (Dwayne) Barber, of Lakeland, 2 sons, Lawrence J., Jr., of Lakeland and Ronald R. (Anita), of Warners, 3 grandsons, David R. Bennett, Lawrence J. Gilbert III and Daniel H. Barber, 3 sisters, Gail Rosen, of Lakeland, Caroline Lamphere, of Lakeland and Beverly Holtz, of Olean, his companion, Patty, of FL and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 9:30 am Monday at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, Solvay. Burial will follow in Onondaga County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse. Calling hours are from 1 to 4 pm Sunday at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Avenue.
