Joseph R. Guarino, 84, of Solvay, passed away Saturday, April 16th at Crouse Hospital. He was born in Syracuse to the late Samuel and Mary (Ghettino) Guarino in 1931. Joe served with the US Air Force during the Korean War. He was employed as a welder at Allied Chemical for 30 years before retiring in 1986. His memberships include the Stanley B. Pennock VFW Post 2893, Solvay Tigers AC and Solvay Seniors. He was predeceased by his daughter, Angela Lorence in 1992.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Mary Maddalena, 3 daughters; Pamela (Marty) Heilmann, of Elizabethtown, KY, Tina (Tom) Williams, of Liverpool and Mary Jo (Ken) Smith, of Liverpool, son-in-law; John Lorence, of Liverpool, 5 grandchildren; Jennifer (Tom) Rapke, John Joseph (Kristin) Lorence, David Richards, Kristie Kirsch and Paul (Jessica) Richards, 6 great-grandchildren, 2 sisters; Marie Pellizzari, of Solvay and Lorraine Armani, of Rochester, and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 am Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at St. Cecilia Church, Solvay. The Rite of Committal will follow in Assumption Cemetery, Syracuse.
