Mr. Joe B. Ptak

Joe B. Ptak, 86, of Solvay, passed away Saturday August 13th at St. Joseph’s Hospital after a brief illness. Born on March 25, 1925, he was the son of Joseph and Honorata Ptak and attended Syracuse Schools. In 1942, at the age of 17, he joined the US Navy SeaBees, serving honorably until 1945. He retired from Allied Chemical in 1986. He enjoyed fishing, golfing and being with his family, grandchildren and friends.

Surviving are his loving wife of 63 years, the former Olga DiGiafrancisco, 2 daughters; Valerie (Lowell) LaMont and Andrea (Aaron Houseknecht) Ptak, 3 grandchildren; Andrew and Kyle LaMont and Dakota Houseknecht, niece; Sandy (Neil) Rosenfeld, and several other nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 8:15 am Friday August 19th in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME and 9 am in St. Cecilia Church, Solvay. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners. Calling hours are from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Thursday August 18th at the funeral home, 2601 Milton Ave.
