Frank Anthony, 86 of Lakeland, passed away February 12th at his winter home in Barefoot Bay, FL. Born in Camillus to the late Philip and Filomena (Zullo) Anthony, the family moved to Fulton in 1942. He attended Fulton High School and left during his second year to join the US Navy in 1946, where he served and was discharged in 1950. He later served with the US Army Reserves from 1953-1955. He received his GED from the USAFI while in the service. After being discharged from the Navy, he worked for Crucible Steel from 1950-1955. He then joined the US Coast Guard in 1955 and served until 1959, then returned to Crucible where he worked until 1965. He then went to work for Local 545 Operating Engineers. In 1977, he married Adele Brzostek Blok, mother of four. He retired in 1991, and in 1995 he and Adele bought a home in Florida, where they spent their winter months for many years. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 418 in Phoenix, NY. Frank was predeceased by 4 brothers and a sister.
He is survived by his wife Adele, step-children; Rose Blok, of Cicero, David Blok, of Federal Way, WA, JoAnn Blok, of Lakeland and Edward Blok, of St. Louis, MO, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am Thursday, April 21, 2016 at Onondaga County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse. There are no calling hours in accordance with Frank’s wishes.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Frank’s memory to the American Legion Post 418, 9 River Rd, Phoenix, NY 13135.
