Eleanor (DeSantis) Baker, 82, of Venice, FL and Syracuse, Passed away Friday in Sarasota, FL. Born in Syracuse, she was a graduate of Solvay High School. She was employed by Syracuse University in the payroll office and the Independent Study Degree Program for 30 years before retiring. She was a member of the Venice Presbyterian Church in Florida and a past member of First Christian Assembly Church in Syracuse. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed dancing at the VFW and American Legion while in Venice, FL and was an advocate for the Down Syndrome Association. Eleanor was predeceased by her husband Edward in 1998 and grandson Timothy in 1978. Eleanor was a very kind, giving selfless mother and grandmother. She was fun-loving and carefree, and devoted to her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is survived by her 3 sons; Jim (Brenda), of Liverpool, Gary (Marilyn), of Onondaga Hill and Gregory, of Syracuse, 7 grandchildren; Jeffrey Baker, Melissa Cole, Ryan Baker, Lauren Askew, Sara Baker, Kristen Baker, and Chelsea Harrington, 9 great grandchildren, her companion of several years: Harold Buckwalter, of Venice, FL, 1 brother; Frank DeSantis, of Rochester, 4 sisters; Mary Wozniak, of Syracuse, Josephine Devoe, of Syracuse, Lydia Ducett, of Solvay and Corinne Luttmann, of Wayne, PA, and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at 9:30 am Thursday June 9th in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME. Burial will be in the White Chapel Memory Gardens, DeWitt. Calling hours are from 4 to 7 pm Wednesday June 8th at the funeral home 2601 Milton Ave., Solvay.
