David T. Pettitt, 72, of Syracuse, passed away peacefully Wednesday October 29, 2014 at home with his family by his side. He was born in Syracuse to the late Harry and Teresa (Kinsella) Pettitt and graduate of Solvay High School. Dave began his career as Highway Superintendent in 1979 for the Town of Camillus. He later held the same position for the Village of Solvay for many years before retiring January 24, 2008. He was a member of New York State Association of Town Superintendents of Highways and New York State County Highway Superintendents Association, the Tyrol Club of Solvay, Lions Club, Elks Lodge and an honorary member of the Fairmount Fire Department.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Lucille Bianchi, 2 sons; David II (Linda Palladino), of Lafayette and Thomas (Suzanne), of Lisle, a daughter; Theresa (Derrick) Holdstock, of Canadian, TX, 6 grandchildren; Thomas (Linnea), Nicole (Chris), Stephanie (Anthony), Jonathan, Derrick and Allison, 3 great grandchildren; Aiden, Christopher and Nicholas, 4 brothers; Harry, Ted, Dennis (Peggy) and Neil (Diane) Pettitt, and many nieces and nephews.
Family and friends may call Friday, October 31, 2014 from 4 to 7 pm at BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, 2601 Milton Avenue. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 am Saturday, November 1, 2014 at St. Cecilia’s Church, Solvay.
