Wilma Marie Kuhlman
April 28, 1918 – January 7th, 2016
Wilma Kuhlman age 97 went to her heavenly home on Thursday January 7th, 2016. She was born April
28th, 1918 in Squirrel, Idaho (Ashton) to Rev. Paul and Elsa Schaus. At the age of 1 year the family moved to Cornelius, Oregon, where she spent her childhood years and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1935. In 1936 the family moved to Snohomish, Washington after her father accepted a call to serve as the pastor for Zion Lutheran Church. It was at Zion where she met her future husband Louis. They married on January 28th, 1940. She spent her life on the family farm on Dutch Hill outside of Snohomish. Wilma’s life centered around her family, her church and the farm. Her musical talents of singing, piano and organ playing were an important part of her life until her early 80’s.
Wilma is survived by her brother, Paul Schaus and sister, Lenore Dolphin, as well as her eight children; Jeanne Murphy (Stuart), Sharon, Jack (Pam), Jim (Carol) Mike (Chris), Tom (Barb), David (Nancy), Elizabeth (Ed); 25 grandchildren; 48 great grandchildren with 3 more on the way; and 2 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Louis of 67 years; her parents Rev. Paul and Elsa Schaus sisters Dorothy Kahle and Victoria Meier; and a grandson Carl Kuhlman.
Her Church and Family were her Joy.
A special thank-you to Compassion Care House for the wonderful care they provided for Wilma in her last years and a heartfelt thanks to Dave and Nancy for all of their continual loving care and support for Mom.
Visitations will be from 12 noon to 7 PM Friday, January 15th at Bauer Funeral Home Chapel in Snohomish. Graveside service will be 10:30 AM Saturday January 16, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 11:30 AM at Zion Lutheran Church. A fellowship at Zion’s parish hall will follow the services.
