As a Soil Technician with the Soil Conservation Service, Jim worked with the farmers of Snohomish County for 37 years, retiring in 1979.
Jim was especially proud of his more than 50 years with the Snohomish Lions Club. He was also a longtime member of the Elks Club, Eagles, French Creek Grange, Farm Forestry Association and the Presbyterian Church of Snohomish. He also served on the boards of Machias School District, the Snohomish Library and the Three Lakes and Roosevelt Water Associations.
Jim married Grace Clay in 1952. They had four children together. Following her death in 1959, he married Gladys Grabner, and they were married for 52 years.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josephine Spada; brothers, Ben and Bill; and sister, Frances Balph.
Jim is survived by his wife Gee Gee; children, Cathy (Mike) McLeod, Nancy Spada (Roger Gee), Mary Anne Spada (late Steve Adams) and Mark (Melissa) Spada. He is also survived by his cousin, Lucy Spada; grandchildren, Robin, Sarah, Aimee and John; great- grandchildren, Jack and Lola; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
A celebration of Jim's life will be held Friday, February 1, 2013 at The First Presbyterian Church of Snohomish, 1306 Lakeview Drive, at 1 p.m.
