Jamie spent his childhood with family and friends. When he was 3 years old, his family moved to Kenya for three years before returning to Sunnyvale, CA. He developed a lifelong love of baseball, and remained an avid San Francisco Giants and Seattle Mariners fan throughout his life.
James met the love of his life, Diane Neff, in the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah in 1982, before serving an 18-month LDS mission in Munich, Germany. They were married on August 17th, 1984 in the Seattle LDS Temple. In 1987, he graduated with a degree in International Relations from Brigham Young University. Their first daughter, Kelley, was born a few months later; followed by Michael in 1989, Katie in 1995, and Emily in 1997.
James spent his time in the service of others and showing his love through that service and quality time, whether that was one-on-one trips with each of his children, spending time with his family shelling countless beaches, and as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or simply putting the needs of others at the forefront of his mind and heart, as he did every day.
James was preceded in death by his father Earle, and is survived by his wife, Diane; children, Kelley (Kevin) Manning, Michael (Jenna) Schwartz, Katie (McKay) Graff, and Emily Schwartz; grandchildren James, Claire, Julian, Jonah, and Anne; mother, Margaret; siblings Steve, Kurt, and Marianne; and many beloved extended family members.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on July 15, 2023 at the LDS Church building, 10120 Chapel Hill Road in Lake Stevens, WA.
