Esther Clara Carlson, 99 Snohomish, Washington, died Friday, May 18 at her home.
Esther was born November 30, 1918 in Eureka Township Burlington, ND, the daughter of Herman and Lydia (Lade) Schimmelpfennig. She was raised on the family farm and educated at country schools in the area.
On April 4, 1943 Esther and Kenneth C. Carlson were united in marriage at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burlington, ND. Following their marriage, the couple lived in Austin, TX where Kenneth was stationed with the Army Corps. Throughout their life together, they lived in Minot, ND. Billings, MT, Madison AL, Cheyenne, WY and Snohomish. God blessed their marriage with 7 children, Lonnie (Frances) Carlson of Snohomish, WA; Loretta (Kenneth) Crum of Porter, OK; Elmo (Jill) Carlson of Minot, ND, Elroy (Jennifer) Carlson of Freeland, WA; Phillip (Pattie) Carlson of Tum Tum, WA; Rodney (Rosanne) Carlson of Port Orchard, WA; Phyllis (Tim) Rossow of Ocean Shores, WA.
Esther and Ken were devoted to raising their children and Esther joyfully took on the responsibilities of motherhood and homemaker. She loved to cook, bake, garden, mow and fix up old furniture. Her faith was a gift given to her at her baptism on April 27, 1919. She was active in the many churches she attended throughout her life by sharing her time and talents.
When given the opportunity she enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren: Todd (Kristy) Crum of Welling, OK; Sheri (John) Rivera of Castro Valley, CA; Cody Carlson of Minot, ND; Amy Carlson of Seattle, WA; Evan Carlson of Seattle, WA; Damian (Ashley) Neafcy of Seattle, WA; Cary (Laura) Carlson of Bellevue, WA.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth, her son Elroy, her parents, brothers Lawrence, Bennie, Herb, Ernie and sister Laura Schimmelpfenning.
Visitation: Friday, May 25, 2018 time 3 – 6 at Bauer Funeral Home,
Snohomish, WA
Funeral: Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. at Zion Lutheran Church, Snohomish, WA
Reception to follow immediately.
Burial: Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Snohomish WA following reception.
