Zonzie Marie Moore-Jones was born on November 4th, 1956, in Stanaford, West Virginia to Dorothy Moore-Soler. She was raised by her grandparents Buffes and Linner Mae Moore. The family moved to the Bronx, NY in 1961, where she attended P.S. 43 Elementary School, then Alexander Burger Jr. High School. She then went to Morris High School where she joined the co-op nursing program. After graduation, she continued her career as Certified Nursing Assistant at Harlem Hospital, here she went above and beyond the call of duty. Zonzie was promoted to Chapter Chairperson for the hospital. She received many awards and accolades for her work. This opened doors for her next career as a Staff Facilitator (Union Representive) for District Council 37, Health and Hospital Corporation. She retired from this position. Zonzie was also a member of Local 420 choir.
Throughout her career Zonzie had an amazing life, full of travel and fun. She loved the Lord above all. Zonzie always thought of others before herself without asking for anything in return. She had an amazing sense of humor. We all know her favorite phrase “GET THE KNIFE”. Zonzie was 1st married in 1988 and from this union came the “Apple of her eye” her daughter, Ashley. She loved her child more than life itself. Zonzie was so happy that her child grew up to be a wonderful woman, who married her “favorite son” (son-in-law) Terrence Dixon. They gave her the ultimate gift of grandbabies. Zonzie loved her boys, Terrence Jr. (Buddah boy), Trevor (Boo-lu), and Travis (Chubby). After falling ill in 2003, she moved to South Carolina, were she met George Jones. Their love was so radiant and admired. Zonzie and George were married at a beautiful ceremony on February 3rd, 2013. George cared for Zonzie in sickness and in health. Their love will last a lifetime.
Zonzie went home to our Lord on October 9th, 2021. She was preceded in death by her parents, grandparents, in-laws, siblings, family & friends. Cherishing her precious memories are George Jones (Husband), Ashley & Terrence Dixon (Daughter & Son-in-law), Terrence Jr., Trevor, Travis (Grandsons), Siblings, in-laws, aunts, uncles, Godchildren, nieces, nephews, family & friends.
Zonzie will forever be in our hearts!!
