Sandy was born in Hahira, GA on July 22, 1957. She was raised in Nashville, Georgia as the youngest sibling of a farming family. She learned how to drive a tractor at age 10. She grew up loving gardening and farming. After attending Georgia Southern and meeting her future husband, she then graduated from Georgia College and State University in Milledgeville, Georgia with a teaching degree. After teaching Special Ed for a few years, she then became the most wonderful mother to her three children and continued as a homemaker the rest of her life. Sandy was beautiful inside and out. She was the most nurturing and caring woman to all who knew her.
Sandy was preceded in death by her father and mother, Charles Henry Ray and Lois Hayes Ray. Sandy is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Chuck Hobbs; her 3 children Jamie Hobbs (Kate), Rick Hobbs (Chasity), and Kimberly Wilson (Stephen); her 8 grandchildren Shelton Parker, Bryton Hobbs, Matthew Hobbs, Mark Hobbs, Micah Hobbs, Braylee Hobbs, Lilyana Wilson, and Josiah Wilson. She is also survived by her 2 sisters Diane Alexander and Jean Harper and 3 brothers Larry, Gary, and Dennis Ray, and many nieces and nephews. Sandy was a kind and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She loved the Lord with all her heart, all her soul, and all her might. She was a faithful and devoted member of the Berachah Life Group at Church on Main, in Snellville. She has truly touched so many lives and those lives will forever be enriched because of her love. Her life verse was Philipians 4:13 - "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." When she was diagnosed with cancer, Sandy quickly adopted this phrase: Pray for Strength, Prepare to Fight, Praise God. As you may face things in your life, maybe those words will ring true with you. Pray for Strength. Prepare to Fight. And through it all... Praise God.
