Born January 19, 1951 in Carlsbad, New Mexico, Mrs. Butler was the daughter of the late Robert Shaw and Violet (Gasquione) Shaw. She was preceded in death by her husband: Marvin Ellis Butler, her sister: Shirley (Shaw) Flowers and her brother: Richard Shaw.
Rose spent most of her young life in Chicago, IL. As a young lady she met, Marvin Ellis Butler, and they would fall in love and soon marry. Their life would start in Chicago, IL, and soon lead them to Stone Mountain, GA, where they would settle, raise a family and successfully run Butler Shell Gas Station for 22 years. Rose would help to run the gas station and also raise their children as a stay at home Mom. Rose was an excellent cook and had a love for food. This love drove her to help a close friend start several very successful produce markets of which Rose managed for many years. Later in life Rose would move to Jefferson, GA and work for LABB Holdings LLC. for 16 years as an office administrator.
Rose was a very independent lady who loved to work and always stay busy but also had an affinity for sweets, a love for the sun and the beach and spending time with her grandchildren.
Rose is survived by her daughter, Rita (Butler) McConnell and her husband Richard; her son, Timothy Ellis Butler and his wife Lynda. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Logan McConnell, Ava McConnell, Aidan McConnell, Bryce Butler and his wife Shannon, Bailey Butler and his fiancé Grace and Abigail Butler.
Family and friends will be received at Eternal Hills Funeral Home located at 3594 Stone Mountain Hwy, Snellville, GA 30039 on Friday, January 3, 2024 from 11am to 1pm for visitation and her service immediately following at 1pm. Interment will be for immediate family only. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
