In the early morning hours of May 31, 2023, Paul E. Lowe of Snellville Ga, passed peacefully at the age of 93 --one month shy of his 94th birthday.
Paul was born at Ft. McPherson in Atlanta Ga, June 29, 1929. He enjoyed a happy childhood growing up in East Point. Paul spoke often of his close friends and playing football at Russell High School. Paul enjoyed their trips to Daytona Beach, returning many times through his life, including every year for the last sixteen years. Paul had a passion for UGA football and traveled many Saturdays to Athens for a game and Varsity dog.
As a veteran of the Korean War, Paul returned to East Point to marry his childhood friend, Grace “Tince” Waters. They had two children and resided in East Point for many years. Paul attended Georgia State University in the evening, while working at Gulf Oil Corporation. From simple beginnings in the mail room, Paul’s attention to detail and dedication moved him up the corporate ladder --to credit manager at the Gulf Oil Travel Card Center.
Paul was a dedicated husband and father, often denying his own needs for his family’s. He had 36- year of retirement to balance his 36 year career. The first years of retirement were difficult, as he diligently cared for his wife, during her lengthy illness. After her passing, Paul met and married a wonderful lady, Betty A. Kuennen. They enjoyed traveling in the US and abroad. Always on to “the next adventure!” whether snorkeling in Florida, driving the coast highways of Spain, or traveling to Betty’s family farm in Iowa. Paul loved being embraced by Betty’s large family. He later joined St. Oliver Plunkett Catholic Church in Snellville.
Paul enjoyed music, dancing, ice cream and discussing politics. Paul was a drummer and truly loved the sounds of the Big Bands from his youth. One thing for certain: he is now at peace and wearing his favorite blue shirt!
He is survived by his wife Betty A. Lowe of Snellville. His son Paul Stephen Lowe and wife Raylene of Suwanee; his daughter Grace Devon (Lowe) Garner and husband James of Dacula. Blended family includes Steve and Deb Kuennen of Colorado, Nancy and Curt Pederson of Illinois, Brenda and Mike Bedenk of Georgia, and Tim and Julie Kuennen of North Dakota.
