Mr. Nathaniel Rose, age 73, affectionately known as "Frankie" or "Uncle Frankie", was born April 8, 1948 in Brittonville, St. Ann, Jamaica, West Indies to Olive and Clifford Rose. He was the 4th of eleven children. He completed primary school and when he was older, he worked as an apprentice at Mr. Norris' tailor store. Here, he developed his skills and learned the trade. He wanted to pursue greater opportunities, so he relocated to Kingston.
While in Kingston, he worked at Jamaica Packaging Industries for 10 years. Shortly thereafter, Nathaniel Rose met and married Icilda Bernard in 1982 and their union produced two children. They migrated to the United States in the early 1980's and resided in Bronx, New York where he worked as a cab driver.
Around 1992, Nathaniel became legally blind due to diabetes and was unable to work. When living in New York City, he attended the Jewish Home and Hospital Day Care Program, where he learned braille, which helped him to read and make phone calls. They also taught him to walk while using his cane.
Nathaniel enjoyed listening to baseball games, inspirational music and various preachers on the radio. He also enjoyed exercising daily and had conversations with family, friends and his grandchildren.
In 2005, Nathaniel and his wife relocated to Lawrenceville, GA where they attended the Lawrenceville Church of God currently Praise Community Church.
Survivors include his children Patricia, Cheryl and Garfield, stepchildren Anthony, Lambert, Winston, Jasmine, Natalie, Michelle and Charmaine. He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind 4 sisters, a brother, nieces, nephews and friends.
Mr. Rose was a kind and caring person who will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends.
A visitation for Nathaniel will be held Friday, February 11, 2022 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Eternal Hills Funeral Home, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 PM.
Mr. Rose will be laid to rest in Eternal Hills Memory Gardens, 3700 Stone Mountain Hwy, Snellville, Georgia.
