Karin Deneke, a loving wife and mother was born in Vasteras, Sweden on March 10, 1923. After graduating from a private girls school in 1943 she worked in the Swedish Embassy in Copenhagen. She emigrated to America in 1951 where she worked for the Swedish American Line. During a vacation in Hawaii she met Dick Deneke and was married to him six months later. She was a generous and caring person with a great sense of humor. Her husbands work required them
to live in California, Georgia and Illinois while diligently raising two daughters. They retired in 1947 to a golf course community in Flat Rock, NC, where she volunteered at the Hendersonville hospital for many years. After 20 wonderful fun loving years they retired to Park Springs, a Continuous Care Retirement Community in Stone Mountain. She enjoyed her family, playing bridge "Life Master"; and her many friends. She is survived by her husband, Richard Deneke, daughter Christine Schiffmayer, daughter Suzy Cushernberry, her husband Chris,their two children Carin and Zachary and two nieces and a nephew in Sweden.
Karin's Memorial Reception will be held Monday, November 17, 12 pm- 3pm at Park Springs, Stone Mountain.
