Danny was born and raised in Chamblee Ga. He was a rebellious teen and joined the Air Force to GET AWAY. He learned a hard lesson but it made him part of who he was. He held many jobs in his career, younger years in a family owned auto after-market business, but his love of airplanes from the Air Force sent him to Lockheed Martin, where he retired.
Danny was known by many different names. I was introduced to “Cowboy”. He also became a Grandsy, and he loved his grandchildren more than they will ever realize. He loved singing A Bushel and a Peck and a Hug around the neck to them. He was called friend and neighbor as he was always willing to help out. If he didn’t have the tool to do the job nobody did. He did not like to be called Dan, I tried to explain to him when boys grow up, they drop the little boy name but he insisted I have been Danny all my life. He also was a caring and thoughtful husband, sometimes overbearing in his duty to take care of you. He did have a few names I cannot mention if you know what I mean. But he had a big heart and only wanted things to be the right way, even if it was only in his head that it was right. Do you know how many You tube videos there are out there to scramble the perfect egg? Too many, and if you feel you are doing it right don’t hunt them.
We joined the American Legion to have people with something in common to hang with. The first time we went in 2000, there were Viet Nam vets there and he talked to them and when we got home, he said let’s hold off going those folks are older than us. When we did get started back it was to become a Rider, but little did our unexperienced selves know we had to start slow and build up stamina 25 miles was an excruciating long ride for us. Don’t laugh Thom and Nina and Joe and Ronda.
Danny was fortunate to have his mother his whole life. He had one sister and 2 daughters, 6 granddaughters, 2 great granddaughters, and 2 great grandsons, 2 stepsons and 1 step grandson. He loved them all, he wanted the moon for each of them.
Then there was me and I will miss the heck out of my big solid rock. Love you Danny.
