Uncle, as we called him, was a man of unshakable faith. A humble man with a signature smile that exuded joy. 
      Uncle had a faith as strong as that of Abraham. Every time we visited him, he was always watching a sermon on TV, with a Bible on him, or he would be listening to a Christian song. A remarkable event happened during one of those visits. My husband Henry was limping, and using a walking stick to support himself due to hip problems. Uncle prayed over him and when we left his house, Henry walked to the car without the aid of the walking stick and has never used it again. That was faith in action. 
         Uncle was a humble man who served others with joy and compassion, despite his status. The first time I met Uncle was at Walmart. My husband introduced us. Uncle was joyfully greeting and blessing everyone he encountered.
              The SMILE… that signature smile was always on his face. I wrote a quote that says, “share your smile. It may be the catalyst that brighten someone’s day” and Uncle did that every day with delight in his eyes and heart. 
       We will miss you dearly, but heaven is rejoicing that another angel came home.

What a gift of a life. It has taken me several weeks & attempts to put my emotions into words to the effect of appropriately expressing the value & stature of such a man as Grandpa Ilodianya. Grandpa was mighty in gentility, a man devoted to the things of God in speech & in action. It all started one Sunday back in 2013 after service, Papa was vacuuming the auditorium so I rushed over to assist a man far older than myself as is custom the way I was raised. Papa graciously declined & instead, directed me to the cleaning closet to grab the second vacuum & invited me to join him in cleaning the other wing of the sanctuary, which I gladly accepted. That became our thing as he gave me new purpose & an avenue to serve in the house of the Lord. From then on, he endeared himself to me with such a strong sense of intention & patriarchal affection. He inquired about my school & all things that pertained to my development & paid keen attention as I shared any challenges with him. When I would return to college, he & grandma would prepare me a care package of snacks, prayers & pocket money to see me through. He was a man of great humility, he did not deem it beneath himself to invest in a young man. Papa would write me such wonderfully penned letters, inquiring about my studies, encouraging me in the way of the Lord & charging me to forge ahead to the finish line despite adversity. He was a bright light that kept me in the straight & narrow & exemplified selfless service not for the accolades or recognition, but that the devine love of Christ may abound. I miss you grandpa. I miss coming over to your house, laying on the floor my head on your lap as you shared stories of your experiences with me. You gave me insight to the depth of the plight of our people. I am so deeply proud to have known you as I do & grateful for the privilege to have shared in your life. You will always be one of my heroes & a key part of my story sir. I miss and love you so much. Till we meet again.

Grandpa, I will miss you, your words of wisdom, your kindness, and love. You always took time out to check on Emeka and I, prayed for us, shared the Word of God, shared insights on the Biafra war and the history of Igbo people. Your gentle guidance left an indelible mark on our family. The wonderful moments we shared will forever be treasured. You are a beacon of light that will continue to inspire and resonate in our hearts.

My comfort is you’re resting in the bosom of our Lord.

When I think of Uncle Goddy, two things come to mind - his faith, and his warmth.  Uncle Goddy always had a smile and a twinkle in his eye. The last time I saw him was during his 80th birthday celebration and he still had that unforgettable twinkle and kind persona. He called often, cared about everyone, was eager to share his faith and lived his life as a shining example to all. 

While this is a difficult time particularly for Aunty Chinwe, Zube, Ekene and Ebuka and the family, we take considerable consolation that Uncle has gone to be in the bosom of the Lord and there is no more sorrow and no more pain. 

May he continue to rest in perfect peace. Amen.

Your death came as a shock to us as you rest in the arms of the Lord. We your families, friends, and well-wishers mourn your death. Nothing is harder than saying - adieu to someone dear to you. More so when one least expects it, but here we are..., what I can say? The vacuum cannot be replaced, but God knows best.

Brother you meant so much to our family, Umuogbo, as well as entire Obosi where you were born. Your fatherly stature in our lives, your tenacity of purpose and your service to humanity all go to cap your fruitful sojourn on earth. You excelled in all you embarked upon. You were a star in sports (Lawn Tennis). In educational career, you won several scholarships, from Primary School to Secondary – Government College Ughelli, in quest you preceded to University of Ahmadu Bello Zaira, where you came out with your first degree in Electrical Engineering. Then post-graduation, you went for technical training in Manchester- United Kingdom. Today you have been awarding scholarships all over schools in Obosi both in Primary and Secondary Schools.

As a Professional in your chosen career – engineering with Nigeria Railway Co-operation, this took you and your family round from Enugu to Lagos. You won the Best Engineer of the year before you retired from the service. Even in U.S.A you continued your good work in humanitarian service and won a Bronze Award as a “Rare Gem of our Time”.

As we bid you Farewell, it is my wish that the foot prints you left in the sands of time. Will remain a glowing driving force to all those you left behind.

Daddy Ilodianya was cerebral, pious, kind, gracious and humble.

Daddy Ilodianya combined intellect with wisdom in reverencing and honoring God. And somehow, he ensured those around him put things in the right perspective as it relates to communicating the Word of God. 

A couple of times daddy had called me regarding the articles I wrote in the church bulletin. Graciously, he would express his appreciation for the articles I wrote then he would gently proceed to ask me to make him understand my perspective. 

Truly God fearing, daddy made me understand the importance of quoting the Word of God instead of quoting mere mortals who 
seem to be paraphrasing the Word of God to make it seem like they made the statement. 

Daddy Ilodianya modeled being a true follower of Christ with his humility. It was indeed an honor knowing him as a fellow member of the same church family.

I miss Daddy Ilodianya. I believe his family miss him the most. 

I pray Mommy Stella and the entire Ilodianya family continues to find comfort in God Almighty as daddy’s beautiful soul rest peacefully in Heaven.

Grandpa was an amazing man, and I remember when my siblings and I always used to play together so often, and he would give each of us money on our birthdays, for Christmas, and for New Year's. He was kind, wonderful, and a true man of God. I thank God for his life, and pray we all see him in Heaven on the last day. Rest on grandpa.

Daddy, the radiance you displayed during your 80th birthday and 50th wedding anniversary with your heartthrob is still fresh in our memories. A little over two decades ago, your family knocked at the Lewis-Asonye's door for Uche’s hand in marriage, and from that blessed day, you assumed the fatherhood status, not just for her as your son Patrick’s wife, but you also extended such tremendous love to the entire Lewis-Asonye family. Little wonder everyone started addressing you as Daddy because you remained a father figure to us all.

Today, though we grieve, we know you have proceeded to greater glory so we can rejoice in the hope that we have in Christ Jesus who you talked and preached about whenever the opportunity arose. 
We pray that your legacies as a Christian man (GODSON), husband, father will be upheld by the family till we meet to part no more in God's glorious presence in  Jesus' precious Name.

I first met Goddy Ilodianya in 1958, in Obosi, during a school holiday. From that first meeting, a special relationship developed between us. I immediately perceived him as a rarely true human being, very reliable and trustworthy. His yes was Yes, and his no was No! He was certainly the type of person that Christ himself described as “a true Israelite in whom there was no guile”!

Initially, I assumed that his relationship was because we were close relations within the Akulu Family of Umu-Ogbo in Obosi. But later, in my working life, I got to know some other colleagues of mine, who attended Government College Ughelli, and knew Goddy very well. They equally had many good things to say about him, from his secondary school days.

In our outer social interactions, he was very fervent about our general community affairs, and went on to head our family and town union affairs in Lagos. In these matters, he put in a lot of commitment to ensure that Organizations were not only well run, but also benefitted from his efforts. During those years, he was not expecting or getting any benefits from the offices he held. 

In later years, when he became very involved with Christian activities, it was obvious that that Christian fire burning in him, was no doubt developing in him and pushing him to that light of service to humanity, dedicated, without counting the cost, or expecting any rewards except that of knowing that any community he interacted with, will forever be better off for his association with them!

Goddy, you have a lived a very fulfilled life and touched many lives in your trails. May the Almighty whom you have served so well, grant you the reward which the people you served in your lifetime could not give you.

Have a blessed and peaceful rest in the bosom of the Lord.

Elder Godson  Ilodianya, was the first of my brother-in-law. He played so many roles in my family. Father figure, brother, confidant, adviser, and guardian, all of which he filled with perfection. 
My Wife Uzoamaka and I, with all my family will miss him greatly. 

I join my beloved Sister, Mrs Chinwem Stella Ilodianya and her children to wish him farewell to journey beyond. I know he is in a better place now.

I lost a superlative Cousin and mentor.

Writing a tribute for my cousin Engr, Godson Ilodianya (retd), Electrical Engineer is difficult and the pain of losing him is tormenting. His death came at a time I did not expect, but it pleased God to invite him, and he accepted. 

Every human being has something to contribute to this world before he/she leaves. Engr, Godson Ilodianya contributed his own quota as an electrical engineer within the society he was during his own time, words alone are not enough to describe you as a person. You recapitulated the beauty, humility, love, a big light, and umbrella that sheltered anyone around you. Engr, Godson Ilodianya was the epitome of truth. He was a man that recorded respect to everyone regardless of class or age, despite his higher position, he reduced himself to accommodate me. This is an irreparable loss, an Iroko, yes, engineer, Godson Ilodianya was an iroko. Though you have gone, but the legacy you left with us will last forever. 

Some years ago, my cousin used to call me every week, sometimes twice a week telling me about what our mother taught us regarding reading the bible, which was how our family members were raised. My cousin was a good Christian, he surrendered his life to the lord unconditionally. 

As we all can attest, God has granted him eternal rest.

Daddy as I fondly called him. A God fearing man. As an elder in the church , I am fortunate to have served in the same department with him, he would vacuum the sanctuary with joy and if anyone wanted to take the vacuum cleaner from him, he would joyfully say, that he was just cleaning his father's house but, would not give up that equipment. He showed me so much love as one of his own. I am blessed to have spent some time with him in the last few weeks. May his kind and loving soul continue to rest in peace. Amen 🙏

Daddy was a great epitome of Agape love. I could recollect how Daddy will take the Hoover and vacuum the entire Sanctuary every Sunday after the Church service.  When Daddy couldn’t vacuum the Sanctuary, he came to me after the Sunday service on this particular day while I was busy vacuuming, he said “I am now old, I couldn’t join you anymore, but thank you for what you’re doing” I told Daddy how he inspired and encouraged me in cleaning the Lord’s house.  My family and I will surely miss his words of love and huge smiles. God will grant the entire Family Praise Chapel the courage to bear the huge loss!!!! Akin- David.

Our dear Uncle Goddy, 

We were blessed to know him as a dear friend and uncle.

He was always so kind to Kenneth and I. And also extended that kindness, love and warmth to our five children. 

Just recently, my 3rd daughter recalls that he wore very big shoes, and that when she was little, he would always let her stand on those shoes and he would walk around with her standing on his shoes. She described him as a gentle giant. And that really does sum up Uncle Goddy.

Kenneth and I had so much respect for Uncle Goddy that, when my 4th child and only son Kenechukwu was born, we asked him to be the child's godfather. 

My children often argue about who is Uncle Goddy's godchild, because everybody wanted him to be their godfather. Thankfully, we have many pictures of Uncle Goddy smilling proudly at Kenechukwu's christening, so those photos usually put a stop to those arguments :-)

I remember his kind heart to the people of Obosi. I remember that despite loving his people, he never compromised his Christian faith. Instead, he modelled the love of Christ to all he came in contact with. 

May the Umunna continue to emulate his faith in Christ Jesus.

May we all remember all the good things he taught us, especially his love for Christ. 

May all those he influenced to love God pay it forward.

Even though we will miss him, we are comforted by the impact he made on Earth, and we are confident he has gone to be with our Lord.

It is an honor to be among those who are sharing about Daddy Godson. Daddy was once the Sunday school teacher the choir in Family Praise Chapel.  He did it diligently.  He was part of the sanitation team in the church. His age didn't stop him from working in the house of God. He was always present in all church activities. 
Daddy always showed his love  and appreciation for my family. I will forever the smile on his face whenever we met.
Daddy Godson, you lived to serve your Creator with everything within you. I know you're rejoicing and dancing with the angels in heaven.

I was privileged to know Mr Ilodianya in passing a few times at RCCG- FPC..
2 of my fondest memories was:
First, when I moved to ATL in 2018, I remembered him after church every Sunday with either the vacuum or a broom and dustpan cleaning the sanctuary while his wife waited or was praying with the other grandmas.

Secondly, when covid hit in 2020, church  was now virtual as everyone was trying to figure out what to do about coming back. I remember on one of the town hall meetings, he asked when are we coming back to church, which Pastor said he didn't know yet. Then Mr Ilodianya asked, "Who's going to be cleaning the church"?... and I smiled because he loved his service and was eager to come back to clean God's house..

My brother Godson Ilodianya was an exemplary individual during his lifetime. He was educated, kind and strict in many issues especially when it comes to things of the Kingdom of God. He was also a truthful person. He was never shy or afraid to tell the truth. He was a Great Evangelist. He likes spreading the word of God. No matter where he goes. In all cases he was never ashamed of the Gospel of God in his life.

Even in his last days, my brother kept on preaching the word of God. He was Educated. He trained his kids very well. They said that Charity begins at home. His Evangelism did not only start with the
outsiders. He brought his children and grandchildren up in the way of the Lord. 

Those who needed counsel or advice from him received, were happy that they went to him instead of someone else. I can go on and on of the work he did  on earth and l know he is going to be greatly missed. And l hope that his "CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN" will continue with his Legacy.

It is with a great sense of awe and pride that I put these words down after seeing all the tributes and kindness of words from both families and friends.

Daddy was my mentor and source of strength in times of adversities. 

Truly he was all that everyone has mentioned and much more. 

My greatest strength and encouragement came during his final days on earth while with him. Even in his condition he was always full of encouragement and prayers for me. 

He once asked me to pray for him during this period and for the first-time words failed me as I was totally speechless about what to pray for concerning him other than for God to take full control. 
While I was still mumbling he broke out praying in tongues with so much joy and calmness. 

His last days were my most cherished especially with his grandkids. All the prayers, all the encouragement, all the admonitions i received the periods I spent alone with him are moments I will cherish for the rest of my life. 

He was more concerned about our wellbeing and never ceased to mention and ask for my siblings and his siblings despite what he was going through. 

I take solace in the fact that he constantly reiterated that he was very fine and that we should allow him to go meet with his Father in heaven. Always telling me not to worry about him. 

Daddy lived a fulfilled life worthy of emulation in both character and deeds. 

He served and communed with the Lord up till his last moment here on earth. 

Even though we all miss him dearly, this is no time for mourning, rather it’s a time to celebrate the life of a wonderful enigma. 

He’s gone to be with the Lord and is in a much better place than any of us can dream of on this earth.

The Efobi family in the USA, UK, NIGERIA, GERMANY & CANADA are joined with my sister Mrs. Stella Chinwem Ilodianya (Nee Efobi) at this time of grieving. We celebrate the fulfilled life of her departed husband Elder Engr Godson Ilodianya (Ogbueshi na Obosi).

We are very thankful to God our father in heaven who has indeed made it possible for his longevity and success story with divine favor. They were married for over fifty years and raised their 4 children within the Christian principles & practice. l was personally in frequent communication with their family unit and Godson always tried without fail to re-convert me to his own version of 
Christianity.

We believe his soul is already in heaven with other faithful departed. He certainly leaves a huge Christian legacy. His wife and children are consoled by the knowledge that their father conducted his life in flying Christian colors with goodwill & love for all especially his wife, children and extended family.

We pray for Journey mercies of blessing and Devine protection for all. Glory be to God in the highest.

Dear My Grandpa,

Thank you for the incredible impact you've had on my life. Your unwavering love for God was a shining beacon, guiding not just me but everyone lucky enough to know you.

Saturday mornings with you, parked in front of the TV tuned into TBN, are some of my favorite memories. I will forever remember your calls urging us to tune into those moments of spiritual learning. It wasn't just about the TV shows; it was about the warmth and connection we shared during those times.

Your ability to seamlessly weave lessons about life and faith into everyday moments made you a true teacher and mentor. Your kindness was unparalleled – a genuine, everyday superhero spreading joy and love wherever you went. Your constant smile, your words, and your actions spoke volumes about the incredible person you were.

Grandpa was an incredible man and Grandfather. Throughout my life, he has always been there to support me. Whether that meant helping my parents take care of me and my sister while they were struggling to balance everything or taking us to church and teaching us the word of God, he has been there. Even after we left Atlanta, he would call us often to check in on us and help us in any way possible. Some of my favorite memories include visiting him in Atlanta during the summer. Whether that meant visiting places like the Georgia aquarium or just staying in his house for a bit, I was always happy to be in his presence.

When I attended Grandpa’s 80th birthday party, and people talked about his journey, his hard work, and his sacrifice, all I could think about was how fortunate I am to be a part of the Ilodianya family and share his name.

I will forever cherish all the memories I made with you over the years. Thank you for always being generous in any and every way you could. Even when you were sick, you still prioritized the people around you, offering comforting words to make sure we weren’t sad about your condition. I am proud to have called you my Grandpa and am joyful knowing you’re in a better place now.

My dear brother -in-law who l fondly called Daddy. When l returned back to US in 2020 and came to your house for a brief stay, you welcomed me so much with love and fatherly care that I stopped calling you Goddy but Daddy, and I stayed on in your house, helped to take good care of you when you were sick to the end.  You showered me with so many Blessings and love which I will never forget all my life.

Your passing was a big blow to me. I still miss you and love you but the good Lord who you served to the end loves you more.

A short tribute is not enough to depict a picture of a man, who lived honorably like you did with much grace, love, and kindness to everyone who dared to have an encounter with you. With deep sorrow and much hurt from losing another father all over again, I write knowing you are in a better place, and no longer hurting.

As a teenager living with my sister in Enugu, I met you time and again when you came with mommy to drop off my Hubby (Ekene) and Ebuka for summer holidays; even then you were so gracious and kind to me. Always leaving an impression of a true believer in Christ: A testimony you carried along till your departure from this world. Your name echoed in Christian circles in Obosi and Enugu long before I got to meet the man known as “Engr. Goddy Ilodianya” a true embodiment of grace!

Fast forward to my meeting Ekene again here in the U.S, and the rest, as they say, was history. Who knew that I would eventually be married into your family, it’s a small world indeed. At our wedding, you proved once again that Christ is the foundation, and a solid rock on which you stand. The “Marital Acronym” you used at our wedding was so intriguing to the audience that guests were reaching out weeks later for the acronym, including my pastor at the time. Our wedding gift with all the scriptures handwritten inside guided my marital journey as I reflected on them for years. Like every father would do, you encouraged, and guided our young marriage every step of the way.

In 2006, while I was nearing the birth of my second child, you were called upon to assist us with navigating and juggling life with young children here in the States. I was excitedly surprised when you and mommy showed up in time for delivery. Daddy, you basically embraced us wholeheartedly, especially your grandchildren, not withholding in any way. You took on tasks just like you were raising young children over again. Dropping and picking Adaeze from school became a special bonding moment for you both. She looked forward to Grandpa’s school runs. You were sure to be present at most school functions, most especially grandparents’ day. Your stay with us was enriched with instilling God’s word into your grandchildren. Guiding us through the most stressful times as a young family. I still hear the echo of your gentle voice in my head, saying “Everything will be fine; all you need to do, is to trust in Jesus”. Your presence was more than that of a father-in-law; you were a father to me…. ever teaching and instructing in your gentle way. Thank you for being a father that filled that void in me for years…. A true gracious dad….an embodiment of grace!

Your constant phone calls, long distance sing-alongs, and scripture reading as we moved away to Virginia, grounded my children in Christ. I will be ever grateful considering the challenges of parenting here. Your contribution made our job immensely, easier. We looked forward to your visiting during celebratory seasons 'till you couldn’t travel any longer. Transitioning to visiting you, was like going home, we packed up, many times excited to come home. We will miss you dearly during future visits. Your grandchildren looked forward to boosting their allowance when they visit. 

Oh! How we will miss your presence!! 

During our visit for Father’s Day this year, we knew that the time was near. In obvious denial, I was praying for at least one more Thanksgiving/Christmas with you. Yet again, you echoed same “Everything will be fine; all you need to do, is to trust in Jesus." Only this time, with tears in your eyes, you added; “Please take care of my grandchildren” ... As promised, I will care for them the best I can.

You are now in the bosom of our creator, where there is no pain or suffering. Thank you for sharing your life with us. We will be consoled by the legacy you left behind. You lived a life of testimony with much grace to share with people around you. We love you and will miss you.

A Tribute to My Beloved Father:

In commemorating the remarkable journey of a truly extraordinary man, my father, I find solace in cherishing the multitude of reasons that make him great. As I pay homage to Daddy, I am compelled to reflect on the facets of his character that resonate most deeply within my heart:

• His unwavering love for God and the profound connection he nurtured with the church. 

• A beacon of positivity, even amidst the most daunting challenges and distressing news. 

• From a stern disciplinarian in our youth to a remarkably tender and forgiving soul in our later years. 

• A dedicated father and grandfather, an unwavering pillar of support for his family. 

• A devoted husband to our mother, exemplifying the true essence of partnership. 

• The stalwart leader of our family and the cherished firstborn son in his own lineage. 

• A man who found solace in constant prayer and derived wisdom from the pages of his beloved Bible. 

• His selfless commitment to aiding others within the church, earning him the revered title of Elder. 

• A Master of Mathematics and a passionate runner, skills, and passions he passed down through the generations. Throughout the ebb and flow of life:

• Moments of boundless prosperity juxtaposed with times when even the basic sustenance of food was scarce. 

• The joyous arrival of grandchildren intertwined with the profound sorrow of losing a son. 

• Acquiring a brand-new family car followed by the devastating loss of that very vehicle in a ghastly accident. 

• The proud inauguration of the family mansion in the village, contrasted by the harrowing experience of a home invasion in Surulere, where we fought valiantly for our lives.

Armed with his metaphorical sword, a cutlass representing his unwavering commitment to defend his family, Daddy's vigilance and strength were our shield in the face of adversity.

Daddy, an embodiment of honesty often misconstrued for his stern biblical interpretation, possessed a heart as pure as an angel.

His dance steps in church, a familiar and cherished sight, remained unchanged for decades, a rhythmic celebration of faith with legs swaying, hands clapping, and head gently nodding.

In the last decade, whenever I inquired about his happiness, his response resonated consistently: "Absolutely nothing—I have everything I need!" He found joy in relishing his favorite meals, singing alongside his cherished confidante, his wife and best friend.
The Godson & Stella Ilodianya Foundation, a testament to his legacy, has empowered over 10,000 primary school children to pursue education.

As I reflect on the truth that you only live once on this earth, my dad's life stands as a testament to a journey richly lived—a life of fulfillment, joy, and profound impact. It is an honor to celebrate the legacy of my remarkable father.

Thank you for everything, rest well in the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ.

When I think of Uncle Goddy, I remember his lovely smile. I've never seen him without a smile, even when speaking.

He was my godfather and took those duties very seriously. Always with a phone call at pertinent times, and always with a reminder to all his nieces and nephews, that one not only had to receive the salvation of Christ but must walk accordingly. We took great delight in constantly reassuring him that yes, we are well and truly saved.

Right now, he is with his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, and will reign with Him for all eternity.  May the good Lord bless and comfort Aunt Chinwe, Zube, Ekene, Ebuka and the entire family during this time, and always.

It's hard to put into words the sadness in my heart as I write this tribute to you.
I remember our visits to Atlanta so vividly. The warmth of your hugs, the stories you shared, and the twinkle in your eyes when you saw me – it meant the world to me. You always said I looked like your sister, and I couldn't help but feel a special connection, a bridge between generations. It made me feel cherished and loved.
 
One of my fondest memories is how you always made sure I had the bigger share of snacks when I was with my siblings. It might seem like a small thing, but it spoke volumes about the love and care you showered upon me. Your gestures made me feel important and valued, and I'll forever be grateful for that.
 
Your 80th birthday remains a highlight in my mind. The joy on your face, the laughter echoing in the room – it was a grand celebration of a life well-lived. You looked so grand and happy, surrounded by family and friends. Little did we know it would be one of our last big celebrations together.
 
Your guidance, especially when it came to the word of God, was something I cherished. The way you lived your faith was a testament to your character.
Grandpa your departure leaves a void that can never be filled. As we mourn your physical absence, we find solace in the belief that you are at peace, surrounded by eternal joy.
 
Thank you for being my grandfather, for the love you gave so generously, and for the memories that will forever bring a smile to my face. Rest in peace, Grandpa.

My dearly beloved Goddy: how are the Mighty fallen?

It was a great shock to me to see from my sister/ friend on my phone, Daddy has gone home.

I had been hoping to speak with you, but each time your amiable wife will tell me that you were sleeping. You were my spiritual partner, with whom we search the scriptures together from time to time. For some time we were unable to do so. My sister told me to keep upholding you in prayer, which I did, with intermittent prayers with my sister, until it pleased God to call you home. His will has been done.

Goddy I can’t forget the sacrifice you made to come and pick me up, when I visited you people, and your hospitality and that of my sister. We enjoyed our reunion and that was the last I saw you. I taught both of you a chorus, which we were singing while I was with you, and each time I call you people; I will ask you if you have been singing it. You always respond in affirmative. The song goes thus.

Hold somebody, tell him/her that you love him/her,
Raise your hands together and Praise the Lord. 

Goddy you were so enthused with the song, and I was very impressed. 
You had an excellent, wonderful, enjoyable, enviable marital union worthy of emulation. Our families were cordially related, when we were raising our children in Surulere.
Goddy, you lived a godly lifestyle, leading your family to do so. Priest of your home, man of good character, dutiful, humble and generous. Words are not enough to describe your type of person. The words of Psalm 90; 10 is your portion. We’re grateful to God for His Grace upon your life. According to Ecclesiastes 3: 1,2a, and 4a say it all. Also 2nd Timothy 4:7 confirms it. You have fought the good fight, you have finished the race, and you have remained faithful. Now the prize awaits you, the crown of righteousness.

Goddy, it’s sad to wish you goodbye, but it must be said. We all love you, but your maker, and Redeemer loves you more. 
The good Lord will grant your nice and gentle soul, eternal repose in the bosom of your God whom you loved and served to your life end, until we meet at Jesus’s feet to part no more. 

May light perpetual shine upon you.

We pray the Lord of all comfort will comfort and console the family and all who are dear to you. He alone will fill the huge vacuum created by your demise.

Who is the man that uprooted the Iroko-tree of Ilodianya from it tap root, that wicked man death!

With a grateful heart and tears in my eyes, I wish to say thank you to God for giving me a blameless, selfless and God-fearing father. Daddy, you were the best gift God gave to me, because you were the instrument God used to mold and fashion; me, my family and your late brother, Engr. Chris Ilodianya into servants of God. I would have been lost in this wicked world without your tender care, love and spiritual guidance. I will cherish and appreciate you all the days of my life. Your kindness and good deed will always speak for you both in heaven and on earth, from generation to generation.
  
You taught me how to have faith in God, love and Forgiveness. You showed me how to obey, trust and depend on God in every area of my life. The greatest among them all is patience in waiting on God’s own time because our God never fails and will not start failing in our situation.

I could remember my last word when you were in your sick bed, I called you daddy “you have not finished your work, we still need you, and you called me Jane! Jane!! Life and death are in the hand of God, he alone knows what to do in this situation. I told you that nothing will happen to you” oh you cold hand of death you snatched my destiny builder away from me although I cannot hear your spiritual voice on phone, I cannot see you again on earth, but I know that you will forever live and speak to me in my heart. I wish that there is something we could do to bring you back to behold your everlasting advice, love, faith etc. 

My only consolation is that you have gone to be with our lord Jesus Christ where there is joy forevermore and no pain, no weeping, and no sorrow. Daddy, you have fought a good fight, you have finished your course and you have kept the faith, I know that our Lord Jesus Christ had given you the crown of righteousness. 

Ilodianya family will miss you and the vacuum your absence has created in our family would be very difficult to fill. May your gentle soul rest in bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ until we meet again in Heaven to part no more. Adieu faithful Man, God bless you.

You were a walking encyclopedia of biblical wisdom; you amazed me with your ability to recite verses effortlessly. Your profound connection to spirituality was a beacon that illuminated the Ilodianya Clan. I am grateful for the heritage of faith you instilled in our family, as Ebuka and I now pass on the tradition of learning and embracing the scriptures to our children.
 
Do you remember our trips to Publix and Walmart, in pursuit of the perfect chicken and the ripest bananas, they were more than mundane errands—they were treasured moments of bonding. In those everyday activities, you welcomed me into your world, treating me not merely as a daughter-in-law but as your own daughter. Your acknowledgment of the void left by my father's early departure at the tender age of 19 echoed in the warmth of your voice when you referred to me as "my daughter."
 
The unwavering support you provided during my pregnancy with Tevin. I will forever cherish the moments when you insisted on driving and accompanying me to every antenatal appointment……I wanted to get an uber, but you insisted on driving despite the pain you felt in your hands then, you patiently waited alongside mum until the last checkup was complete. Your genuine concern and involvement during that precious time mirrored the depth of your love and commitment to family.

Can I ever forget our times in front of the TV screen watching Trinity Broadcasting television-TBN on cable, albeit with a discerning eye on the preachers dissecting the word, it was a unique facet of your character, filled with a touch of humour and a steadfast commitment to truth.

When you first moved to the USA, I remember the exchange of very very long, handwritten letters, it became a tradition that bridged distances and strengthened our familial ties. Your words, written with love and wisdom, served as a testament to the depth of your affection and the richness of your soul. We still have those letters by the way……we will treasure them forever!
 
Thank you for raising a wonderful man who is not only my husband but a testament to the legacy of love, faith, and resilience that you cultivated. Your tales of the Nigerian railway, the Biafra war, and the construction of the National Theatre in Lagos were windows into a past that shaped you and enriched our lives through the wisdom you shared.

Your legacy lives on. Thank you, dear father, for being you—a man of integrity, faith, and boundless love. May you find eternal peace in the embrace of the Divine.

It is with profound sadness that we say our final goodbye to an exceptionally remarkable soul, my beloved grandfather, Elder, Engineer Godson Ilodianya. He departed from this earthly realm on October 27th, 2023, leaving behind a legacy that cannot be matched.
 
Grandpa was kind to us, a stack departure from tales told to us by my own father of how strict he was when they were growing up……I guess we grandkids brought out his soft side.
Grandpa always mentioned how we had extended his life and brought him joy after every opportunity we had to talk via video call.
 
From my earliest memories of playing in his backyard in the USA, to the cherished moments of joining him at 5 am for prayer, Grandpa was a constant source of protection and warmth. As we navigate the emptiness left by his physical departure, we simultaneously celebrate a life dedicated to family, steadfast principles, and the pursuit of happiness in God.
At your 80th Birthday Celebration, I stood with immense pride as the granddaughter of a remarkable man, listening to heartfelt tributes to your character and accomplishments.
Rest in peace, dear Grandpa. Your legacy persists in the countless lives you touched, and your love remains an enduring guiding light. Your absence is deeply felt, and we cling to the precious memories you bestowed upon us.

Grandpa, as I fondly called him, was a beacon of warmth, wisdom and unimaginable love. He was a kind father figure to me and a loving and attentive grandfather to our children. 

I remember as though, it was yesterday, when Tochukwu was born, and Grandpa came to visit us. He encouraged me to be steadfast in my relationship with God and even visited my RCCG church family and the pastor -in -charge. There was not a week that passed by without his call of encouragement and prayers, which helped me to be strong in those times. 

He was a rock of strength who, in a calm yet determined manner, offered support and encouragement through high and low times. His life experience-driven advice served as a source of direction that brightened my paths when things were unclear. He was an inspiration because of his tenacity and resilient approach to adversity. 

His role as a father-in-law to me was one of love and affection, and he treated me not just as a daughter-in-law but as a valued member of his family. His love and guidance served as a foundation, firmly establishing in my mind the importance of valuing, fostering, and cherishing family ties.

This void will never be filled...

Rest in peace, dearest father-in-law. Your legacy lives on in the love you bestowed and the unforgettable mark you left in our hearts. We will keep his legacy alive by continuing to raise our boys in the way of the Lord and ensure they uphold this foundation of love.

LETTER OF CONDOLENCE

I write to condole with you and the entire family of late Elder, Chief Engr. Godson Ilodianya over the demise of your beloved husband, father and head of the family at a ripe age as this.
The news of your husband’s demise came as a shock, but with total submission to the will of Almighty God, he fought it right from the time he sensed it, but finally concurred with divinity and bowed out.

He was a pillar of inspiration, compassionate leader, and an enviable strength of character to the family of Chief Patrick Efobi, the Oba I of Obosi, in the late and early seventies when he stepped into our family as the first brother-in-law to our young family, that he and my most senior sister Mrs. Stella Ilodianya took me in as one of their own when I was leaving to Switzerland/ Britain for further studies and took me back in their house in Lagos when I came back, in middle seventies and late eighties respectively.

I will like to include a little tribute from the pupils of Infant Model Schools, Obosi. Compassionate and caring Daddy, you will always be remembered every tomorrow for the fragrance of your deeds extended to us by Godson & Stella Ilodianya Scholarship Foundation scheme, your good deeds will continually remain in our hearts and put smiles in our faces”.

Our prayer is that God will engage you, elder Chinwem, your children and siblings, to bear the loss with fortitude. See you my dear brother-in-law at the resurrection morning.

Beyond the anecdotes, there was a playful side to him that revealed itself in shared laughter and cherished moments. His humor, often subtle yet profound, added a lightness to our lives, making even mundane occasions memorable.
As a grandparent, he was a source of unconditional love and boundless affection.  In his 84 years, he witnessed the world transform in ways unimaginable during his youth. Yet, amidst the changes, he remained a steadfast pillar, adapting gracefully while holding onto timeless values. His legacy isn't just in the memories we hold but in the principles he instilled, the traditions he upheld, and the love that continues to resonate within our family.
He may no longer be with us physically, his spirit lingers in the echo of his laughter, the resonance of his advice, and the love that binds us together. As we bid farewell to a remarkable soul, we carry forward the torch of his legacy, ensuring that the lessons he imparted illuminate the path for generations to come. Grandpa, your presence will be dearly missed, but your wisdom will guide us always. Till we meet to part no more.

It’s customary to speak good of the dead, especially when writing a tribute, but today I am not here to speak good of Daddy Engineer G. O. Ilodianya only, but to state the truth as it is with a view to encouraging the believers in Christ and appealing to multitude in the valley of decision, to quickly surrender to Jesus Christ before it’s too late. 

Our father, brother and my father in-law is a child of God to the core. He was truly born again as the scriptures said. He was a living example or model of epistle not written with ink but with the Spirit of God. 
Our ways crossed when we came to Christians Pentecostal Mission Int’l Lagos Headquarters. In fact, God planned that we met. Both of us were new in the Church and we lived in the same Aguda shell club area. 

The first thing that happened to me when I met him and the family was that I was humbled by his level of commitment, dedication, zeal uprightness and the fearlessness he exhibited. 

At his age then, exposure and influence, he humbled himself under my leadership as the Zonal coordinator. Call for evangelism, vigils and zonal meetings, he was always there and in time. I saw in him what God said of Abraham, he commanded his family after him. 
He was ready to preach Christ to whosever he came in contact with. He cannot talk to you for two minutes without including a message of the Kingdom. Call him to give a vote of thanks, he will end up preaching and thanking Jesus Christ. To him Jesus was real as it is to me too. He didn’t spare anyone. His children, his brothers and sisters, his neighbors, his friends and even those who are hidden enemies he presented the message of the cross to all. Today we can see the effect in the lives of all his children, they are all professing Christians. He hated hypocrisy to the core. He lived an impactful, fruitful, Christlike and fulfilled life. He was an example of one God blessed. 

The G. O. asked us the zonal coordinators to submit a name from the zones for consideration for appointment as Church Committee member. There was someone in the zone who had always been appointed into that office by the General Overseer himself and everyone expected me to send his name..., I didn’t. I sent Daddy-G.O., the name of Godson Ilodianya, because of what I saw in him. I knew the G.O will not allow such to waste as his humility and uprightness are great assets for Kingdom building. Is it the wisdom and the spiritual understanding? To cut the long story short, he went for the interview, he was not only taken, but he also became one of the people that were permanent committee members till he left Lagos.

He never believed in denomination but was ready to partner with anyone who is a genuine child of God irrespective of the denomination you belong to. While in CPM, he gave his house to the Four-Square Gospel Church free of charge, which they used as Church Hall until they got their own permanent building and left. 

Aguda shell club zone was example of what a Christian family ought to be. There was no class there was care, because someone like him humbled himself as every Christian should. Do I talk about the financial supports for the progress of the zone. He was a pillar indeed. 

He has gone. We are not weeping but we cried. We are not sorrowful, but we had pains. We are rejoicing that he made it, yet we wished he stayed longer. Nevertheless, he has finished his race. What remains is you and I to finish well so that we too can make it in the end.

You do not feel the pains of death when the dead is not directly linked to you. So I understand my pains at your departure Daddy. As your daughter, I should feel it more than anyone else. But the fact that you made it known to us, my husband and I when we spoke last on phone with you that you want to go home to be with the Lord, did not make my pains less as I expected. Like Elisha who knew his master will be taken away cried “My father, my father, the chariot of Israel, and the horsemen thereof. And he saw him no more: so did your daughter cry Daddy Daddy as you fly into the bosom of the Lord by the wings of the Holy Ghost, and I will see you no more in this world. 
I felt so bad and I’m still feeling bad, that you left. 

I kept thinking who will wear your shoes in Ilodianya family? How will I come home to meet only Mummy and you are not there? The equation is not balanced. As a pastor’s wife, I comfort and encourage people when their loved ones depart, and I know the Scripture that says we should encourage ourselves in the Lord but the practicality of that scripture is not easy for me. 

A day after the news of your departure came, I fell sick and frankly speaking, I have to let out a serious cry though it was cry of faith. Daddy my husband, my children and I love you so much and we miss you, though I miss you more. 

As my husband will always say, we have many people that side that will welcome us, you are now one of them. We will meet to part no more! Sleep well Daddy! Till we meet to part no more!

Tribute To My Beloved Brother

It is so heavy in my heart to write this, but the Bible made me to know that there is time for everything. Time to be born and time to die. Hence, it pleased the Lord almighty to call you home in a time like this. I render all thanks and all glory to God most high.

How are the mighty fallen. Your exit from this transitional material world came as a surprise and shock to all of us because of your fatherly care and love, and I wished you would have stayed on.

Bros, your absence in the family has created a big vacuum. We love, cherish, and need your presence in the family but God love you most. Bros, I am not afraid of where you are going because I know that you are already in heaven.

Good night. Ga ịjè gị nke oma. God loves you most. Have a peaceful rest in the bosom of our Lord Jesus. Amen.

Daddy was indeed a Father figure or more like the saying goes "Father Hen" to all his boys.
I recalled how he will travel far just to get something across to his sons when they ask him to I am like ah ah,? How can u be going on errands for grown up men. It should be the other way round o. So you see why I said he was a" Father Hen" to his boys or sorry, men. He was always available and overprotective. For with Zube my husband, and first son, nothing was ever wrong... 😊 

I recall those good days when I came over to Snellville to stay for months, Daddy and I always went for mid-week service in RCCG Family Praise Chapel, and he always played this song on the way.
🎶 Lord  you are good and your mercies is forever Hallelujah!!! 🎶 🎵  
So whenever I hear that song, until today, I always remember daddy because it was the first time, I heard that song, and he told me a church member gave him that CD.

We have had our good times and bad times. As a daughter in-law..., his favorite intro words for me were" my number one daughter" (in his voice smiling ) 😃 

Love you Daddy and thank you for being my Father-in-law.

Over 84 years ago a man of great honors was born a father, a husband, and an amazing grandfather to multiple grandchildren. Whenever I would go over to Grandpa's house I would either talk to him for a long time or we would kick the bouncy ball and play catch. Grandpa was an entertaining man.  He would always try to do stuff with me when I went over until last year when he got sick and his health was going down by a lot.  He would complain about seeing stuff that wasn’t there. After that, he stopped eating and was not able to do the things that he usually does. He was in a lot of pain, but he fought through it to give us time to spend with him..

I still remember the times when I would call Grandpa on the phone and after the call he would sing; 
“I love Jesus, I love Jesus,
He's my friend, He's my friend,
He will never leave me, He will never leave me,
 He's my friend, He's my friend.” 

Grandpa was a firm believer in God as that goes for the rest of the family. He would read his bible every day, and sometimes I was there with him in the mornings when he would read his bible, and he would read bible verses to me.  I even sat in for a family prayer night where they go on a WhatsApp call and people from Nigeria would come together for a scheduled bible study time.

Grandpa was a great role model for his children and grandchildren, and I can tell because he raised an amazing dad and uncles.

I will miss my grandpa dearly, but I know he is now in a better place and I'll get to see him again one day.

In Loving Memory of My Beloved Daddy
Today, as we gather to celebrate the life of my dearest daddy, I am overwhelmed with both grief and gratitude. His presence in my life was a beacon of love, strength, and unwavering support.
Daddy was more than a father; he was my hero, and my greatest teacher, that tutored me to being the Engineer that I am today, by giving me the first educational foundation and Career directions. 
His kindness knew no bounds, and his laughter filled our home with warmth. From childhood Bible stories that fashioned my life into the right track of life, he shaped my world into being who I am today. 
His wisdom was a guiding light, illuminating the path through life's challenges. Daddy taught me the importance of resilience, kindness, and the boundless power of a loving heart. His legacy lives on in the lessons he instilled and the values he championed in my life and the whole of ILODIANYA Family
As a provider, he worked tirelessly to give the best, not just materially, but emotionally. The sacrifices he made spoke volumes of his love and devotion. His work ethic and determination were an inspiration, reminding me that success is not just measured in achievements but in the lives touched along the way.
In the deepest thought of my memories, I see moments of joy, shared laughter, and joy comforting embrace of a father's love. Daddy's love was a fortress, a place of refuge that made even the stormiest days seem brighter.
Though you are no longer with us physically, you live on in the echoes of  laughter, the warmth of your embrace, and the lessons etched into my heart. Today, we not only mourn the loss of a remarkable man but celebrate a life well-lived, a life that continues to shape the person I am and aspire to be.
Daddy, your love remains a guiding force, and the memories we shared will forever be cherished. I find solace in knowing that you are at peace, reunited with loved ones who went before you.
Rest in eternal peace, dear daddy. Your legacy lives on in the love you gave and the lives you touched. You will be missed not only to us, but the whole entire ILODIANYA Family, our clan, community, the entire Obosi kingdom and the world at large, but never forgotten!

It has been a privilege walking this side of eternity with you for fifty (50) years, and I am full of gratitude to God for blessing me with such an extraordinary, self-sacrificing dad. You have been my pillar of strength, my source of wisdom, and the embodiment of confidence and kindness throughout my life. I recall you picking us up from Primary (Elementary) and Secondary (Middle – High) schools. On most of those trips, you had the wheel exclusively. We had drivers. On a few occasions we had two drivers in the car, who would drive you to our schools. However, you would take over driving once we your kids got in the car. You were going to take care of your children in the best way you thought regardless of societal pressures. All my life you have been the firm foundation of warmth and security. 

As I grew, you became my constant source of unwavering support and encouragement. Even when the school authorities at F. G. C. Odogbolu decided on one of our opening days to make all incoming students/parents park their cars in the academic area close to the assembly hall, but unreasonably far from the boy’s dormitories. Without regard for those of us tiny, pre-teens, who were checking in with bulky and heavy trunk (metal) boxes. The fact that you were a corporate executive, running a successful consulting firm did not matter to you. You hoisted that bulky box over your head (weight-lifter and orange-seller style), while I scrambled to catch up to you, my tiny arms wrapped around bucket, broom, cutlass, pillow, etc. The snickering and side comments, mostly in yoruba, from some of the other parents did not phase you one bit. You were going to take care of your children in the best way you thought regardless of societal pressures.

Your presence in my life instilled such confidence in me to take on the unknown, that some misjudged that as arrogance. I recall our countless days spent exploring this our newly adopted world around us called America. Discovering new normals, navigating frigid temperatures, strategizing cost-cutting shopping, and igniting an intellectual spark together as we evolved into this new environment. As a young couple in 2006, with one toddler and another baby on the way, we were on a long-distance call with you two still in Nigeria. We were discussing the challenges my wife and I were going through and why she had to stop work with delivery date approaching. Our reduced income made it even more challenging to get adequate help locally. To pile on that my mother-in-law’s visa application had been denied. Without skipping a beat, you said we are both retired, we have multi-year visas, we can be there to assist. And in the space of one week, you made arrangements for both your accounts, tenant rents, pensions, car transfers and/or sales. You purchased, out-of-your-pockets for your tickets and jumped on the first affordable flight to rescue us. Mommy went into full housekeeping mode, while you stepped in to take on any physical work I had around the house. Your words were “grass cutting is good exercise”. Once again, you were going to take care of your children in the best way you thought and not according to what societal pressures dictated.

You taught me the value of natural organic foods, the thrill of pushing intellectual boundaries, and the importance of cherishing every moment in God’s presence.
To add to all these, you instilled in me values that have shaped the person I am today. Your unwavering belief in my abilities through Christ fueled my determination, while your unwavering patience nurtured my resilience. You taught me the importance of compassion, empathy, and the power of appropriate word.

Yes Daddy, you are my hero, my role model, and the north star that guides my moral compass. Your unwavering love and support have been the cornerstone of my life, providing me with the strength and confidence to navigate the challenges and triumphs of life's journey. 

As I reflect, I am humbled by the impact you have had on my life. You two have shaped me into the person I am, and I carry your lessons and values with me every step of the way. Thank you for being my dad, my mentor, and the resounding echo in my ear to keep my back straight, shoulders square and chest out to always ensure a good posture.

Early in January 2018,  my wife and I came as "first timers" to RCCG FPC . On our way back from being  "received by the Pastor", we were beckoned upon by Elder Ilodianya, who with sparks in his eyes exclaimed: "I know you". 
Yes indeed, he knew us!!!
We were together at CPM Intl. Ajao Estate Lagos, and Engr. Ilodianya (as he was fondly called by late Rev. Dr. Ezekiel -  G O), was in almost all vital committees in the Church. Hardly did any worship service end each Sunday without Rev. Ezekiel announcing that "Engr. Ilodianya should wait to see me".  As always, an assignment was in the offing! For his sake, Rev. Ezekiel would always say, "Thank God for the gift of men"
Back here in Atlanta, Elder Ilodianya and his dear wife (Sis. Stella) made our settling in a lot more pleasurable, even with financial support to find accommodation. Do you blame us for choosing their home for "House Fellowship", and not mind the 30 minutes drive from Decatur to Snellville, especially when we must leave with gift packs every fellowship day😇?
Our dear Elder, Engr. Ilodianya, "you have fought a good fight, you have finished your course, you have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for you a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the Righteous Judge, shall give you at the last day..." Good night, till we meet at the Resurrection Morning 😏. Bro. Charles.

One beautiful evening I came downstairs from my room at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka to read the notices on the board. I was dressed in my traditional attire – a red blouse and my two-piece wrappers. I had just arrived on campus for the second semester, second year of my degree program. This was after I had transferred from the University of Ibadan due to the civil disturbances that eventually led to the Nigeria-Biafra Civil War (1967 – 1970). One of the students (of blessed memory) approached me requesting that I accompany her to show her cousin round the campus. As we showed her cousin round, we introduced ourselves and exchanged pleasantries all the way. He later drove back to Ekulu Layout, Enugu in his sky-blue Peugeot 404 with registration number LM 1035. Little did I know that this was a setup to get me acquainted with her cousin, who later became my husband, Godson Ilodianya.

In those days, most people had specifications for the type of life partners they wanted. Goddy (as we used to call him) fitted perfectly into all my specifications. I also fitted perfectly into all his specifications as he confessed later. As I look back, I can boldly say that what God cannot do, does not exist.

Our courtship started while I was on campus, but as God was ordering our steps aright, we soon relocated to our hometown due to the civil war that ensued. Our family homes were just a walking distance from each other. This provided convenient periods for all the traditional ceremonies to be completed. Shortly after, our families were displaced again to Ihiala environs where we finally tied the nuptial knot in 1968, in Biafra. Our past 55 years together is now history to the glory of God. God blessed us with wonderful, intelligent, and loving children. He later beautified us all with his salvation and gave them the best spouses and children.

At the fullness of time, God relocated us to the United States of America. Godson Ilodianya remained a devoted child of God, a loyal husband, a loving caring father/father-in-law, a responsible head of the Ilodianya household and many beautiful things to our families, the body of Christ, our nations of citizenship and others around us. I can boldly say that he is irreplaceable in the lives of all those who were privileged to have known him.

I am eternally grateful to God for giving me the privilege, the resources and all the help I needed to take care of this precious child of God ‘till he gloriously transitioned into the bosom of our Lord Jesus Christ. 

I am very grateful to all the people God used to make this possible, namely my beloved and caring children, their dutiful wives, my loving grandchildren, pastors, brethren, brothers, sisters, healthcare professionals, institutions, government, and private agencies, to name a few. I thank all those who are still contributing physically, materially, and financially to give Goddy a befitting burial. 

May you all be loved, provided for, and honored in your times of need. May none of you ever lose your rewards from Almighty God in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.


Elder Godson Ilodianya was a very good, honest, and caring man who loved his wife so much, he wouldn't let even a fly touch her. He was a very bright and knowledgeable electrical engineer and his children inherited his valor, his brightness, and his bravery. 

He cared greatly for his brothers, sisters, relatives, and even in laws, not discriminating between his in laws and blood siblings. During the holidays, all of us scamper to his big house. We accepted him as our big brother.  At the end of the holidays, him and his wife would always give us pocket money, so we could happily continue our schooling. We loved him and will equally miss him greatly.

Goddy is a very strong believer in our Lord Jesus Christ, knew the Bible to the last letter. I am sure he is in the bosom of the Lord. Goddy rest in perfect peace until we meet to part no more.

In the quiet spaces of my heart, I find solace in the memories we crafted together. Your passing leaves an ache, yet the joy you brought to our lives resonates like a timeless melody. At 16, I grasp the depth of your impact, not just as a grandfather but as a beacon of love and wisdom.

I remember going to your house, rolling down the hill, chasing bunnies, I remember you making sure I was well fed, calling me Oluchi. 

I remember your 80th birthday one of my fondest childhood memories, so proud to be your granddaughter. I remember and now your memory is all I have. 

I'll forever cherish the warmth of your hugs, the laughter we shared, and the quiet understanding that passed between us. In your presence, I found a sanctuary, a place where love and acceptance were boundless.

As I navigate the journey ahead, I carry your lessons with me – the importance of kindness, the strength found in gentleness, and the enduring power of family bonds. Though you're physically absent, your spirit lives on in the values you instilled.

I called you Grandpa America, despite being my only grandpa. My Grandpa America, my storyteller, my teacher, the catalyst to my relationship with God. Your absence leaves a void, but I take comfort in the knowledge that your legacy lives on in the stories we tell and the love we share.

Rest peacefully, Grandpa. Your memory will forever be etched in the chapters of my life.
