Eric Hawkins, 58, of Loganville, peacefully entered into God’s kingdom surrounded by his wife and son on October 14,2023 after a brave battle with cancer. He never wavered in his peace throughout the battle and trusted God completely with His plan. Eric was born December 2, 1964, to Troy and Nevelle Hawkins. He is predeceased by his father, Troy Hawkins. Eric is survived by his wife of 30 years, Tracy; son, Reid; his mother, Nevelle; sister, Dena Hulsey, Niece, Emily Hulsey-Branum, nephew Jake Hulsey-Branum; in-laws Dan and Betsey Smith; brother-in-law and friend, Joe Smith; Sister-in-law Deanna Smith; honorary nephews Isaiah, Jeremiah and Eli Borgen and honorary niece, Liliannah Borgen; and his faithful German Shepherds, Willis and Lola. Eric graduated High School from Mt. Carmel Christian School in 1983. He attended Middle Georgia College for 2 years and then went on to Auburn University from 1986-1993 where he earned a Bachelors and Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering. While pursuing his Bachelor’s Degree, he was a co-op student with Georgia Power and while pursuing his Masters Degree, he taught classes at Auburn University as a Graduate Student. He and his wife Tracy met while they were attending Auburn and were married within 2 weeks of graduation. After graduating from Auburn, Eric worked at companies including Boeing, Motorola, Philips Semiconductor and Elesys. He began working at Universal Avionics Systems Corporation in 2007 as a Manager of Logic Design Engineering. Eric loved his job and considered his Universal Avionics coworkers to be his extended family. He faithfully served God as a Childrens Leader and Group Leader in Bible Study Fellowship for many years and was a member of 12Stone Church. He had a love for grilling and could be found every weekend (regardless of the weather) grilling something on his Big Green Egg while cheering loudly for an Auburn University sporting event of some kind. He also loved mountain biking and repairing his bikes and watching movies with his son, Reid, in his self-made home theater. He had a great sense of humor and an infectious laugh that will be greatly missed by all. We will have a Celebration of Eric’s life on Saturday November 4th at 11:00 AM at 12 Stone Church Snellville Campus. Family will receive visitors from 10:00-10:45 AM at the church and the service will begin at 11:00 AM. Light refreshments will follow the service. We ask everyone to wear Auburn attire or orange and/or navy blue to celebrate his love for his beloved Auburn University. In Lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to 12Stone Church by texting Give to 37748.
